Task (A.C. 4.1) This task asks you to research a current ethical issue affecting a selectedbusiness.Many issues might be considered here including: corporate social responsibility CSR; globalisation; cultural imperialism; ecology;environment; fair trade; corruption; animal testing; child labour; carbon footprint; sources oftimber; outsourcing; personal attitudes; whistle blowing; the contribution of business to thecommunity; ethics in sales and marketing, e.g. spamming, shills, product placement, greenwashing; ethics in intellectual property e.g. software piracy, counterfeiting, and peer-to-peer file-sharing
To achieve a pass you will demonstrate you have addressed the task adequately and also demonstrate that you have selected and applied an appropriate technique and employed relevant theory to answer the task.
To achieve a merit you will employ both convergent and divergent thinking to address the task in such a way that a justifiable and valid answer is generated Task This task requires you to report on how the business could improve the ethics oftheir operations whilst meeting objectivesand ensuringgood employer/employee relations. To achieve a pass you will demonstrate that the task has been addressed adequately and apply a range ofjustifiable methods and resources to explore a number of possible variables
To achieve a merit you will demonstrate that you have arrived at your conclusions through a valid, reliable and justifiable synthesis of ideas
Task Now that you have considered a wide range of ethical issues both theoretical and practical, this final task asks you to design a suitable ethical code.
To achieve a pass: you will provide evidence that the tasks above have been addressed adequately and also will show particularly in the case of Task 5 above that a range of sources of information has been employed and the complex problem outlined above has been explored utilizing tackled logically and coherently. To achieve a merit: you will show that your conclusions have been arrived at through a critical synthesis of ideas and in the case of A,C. 4.3 innovation, effective thinking and creative thought in this unfamiliar arena have been applied.
