1)    As a guide, 5 to 10 (published within the last 5 years) references should be used within your work. (NOTE: it is fine to use the National Mental Health Survey, 2007, even though it is more than five years since publication as it is the latest national survey of its kind)
2)    Revisit your tutorial guides and the notes you made in class as much of the information has been presented in the tutorial and lecture forum, particularly sessions three and four.
3)    Review the case study you have chosen in detail.
4)    Ensure that your answers incorporate literature but also refer back to the case study frequently. You should be using the literature to support and further develop your thinking about the person in the case study.
5)    The total word count for assessment one is 2000 words. As a general guide:
500 words for question 1
400 words for question 2
400 words for question 3
300 words for question 4
400 words for question 5
Please take care to achieve depth and detail to your answers, while keeping within the word count.
6)    Ensure the question number and answer is clearly identified in your work. You may wish to write the question out and provide the answer for each question in order. Please do not include the question in your word count.
7)    No introduction or conclusion to your work is needed.
8)    Consider referring to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Department of Health, Mental Health Commission websites for up to date information. You may also wish to refer to the DSM V.
9)     Think broadly about the factors which may have contributed to the person’s current presentation.
Examples may include:
family relationships,
distressing events involving family members,
physical health,
social events or situations i.e. housing, finance, employment, social engagement or withdrawal.
