Blog (20%) Length: 500 words Due date: Thursday August 25th (week 4), 3PM. You are expected to attend a match or sporting event or function in your community and report on it. You can be a participant or a spectator. The first aim of the assignment is for you to actually engage with sport. You cannot stay home and watch a game on television or Youtube. It can be any sport or competitive game. The other aims are for you to observe and critically discuss what’s going on with a focus on participation and competition. Consider the physical action of the game, to the emotion, the environment, the spectators or supporters, and so on. Draw some insights from those observations and develop them through writing. You can make links to the lectures in the first few weeks of the semester. The written piece can take the broad form of a blog, or commentary. You can be expressive and innovative in your impression. It needs to be original, engaging and understandable. Show that you have taken notice and thought about your experience. It would be prudent to do some research about the sport or teams or venue before attending.
