Choose 5 different research projects and choose an appropriate research study design (Quantitative, Qualitative, Mixed, etc.) for each. See if you can come up with 5 different examples of research study designs. Try to be as specific as possible such as "Qualitative Focus Group" or "Mixed Method Replication Experiment."

The first example is “work attitudes and motivation among virtual workers”.  It can use a quantitative method that uses a survey instrument to collect data of workers about their attitudes and motivation when they telecommute.

The next example is “understanding perceptions and attitudes of employers regarding recruiting graduate students with disability”.  It can use a mixed method to evaluate how the perception of disability influences the recruitment of college students with disabilities and therefore their ability to obtain a job after their graduation.  The quantitative part will help to gather data about graduate students with a disability that can be investigated further in the qualitative part. The quantitative method will include a questionnaire whereas the qualitative method will use a focus group.


“Telecommuting, productivity, and conflict” is the third example.  A quantitative research design that uses a survey instrument will help to examine the role of telecommuting, productivity, and conflict.

The fourth example is “conceptualizing an explicit cultural framework and risk management strategies for sustainable international development projects in Africa”.  It will be a quantitative method that uses a survey instrument to gather information about African countries in order to determine a cultural framework which will help to understand what constitute African countries’ cultures.

The final example is “attitudes of students about the eleven-week system”.  A quantitative method can be used with a survey instrument to assess the attitudes of students regarding the eleven-week term.
