What is the social vision in these texts? For example what value do they place on freedom, and how do they define it?  • What is the authors’ view of human nature? For example are humans good, bad, in-between, changeable or inherently unequal?  • Is there evidence here about the authors’ theory of history and society? For example why do they consider that political change occurs?  • What political program do they propose? For example: gentle reforms, keeping the status quo, radical change?  • Is there evidence about the authors’ epistemology? For example is their style of argument deductive and logical or does it rely on examples and rhetoric?  
3. You should then evaluate which argument is more convincing. You could consider the following questions:  
• Can you think of evidence from history or contemporary society that supports the authors’ position? Evidence that contradicts it?  • What are the implications of the argument?
