Purpose: The purpose of this assessment is to demonstrate your ability to research, write and orally present a training presentation. Training is a planned effort by an organisation to facilitate employees' knowledge of and ability to perform job-related competencies. This training session is based upon a presentation brief which will demonstrate your ability to analyse your audience and create a training presentation outline. In addition you will produce one written piece of self-reflection as a means of demonstrating your ability to critically analyse your communication. Task: Your task is to present a training session to your audience members designed to improve their communication in the workplace. For example, you could provide a training session on how to write effective business email. Your training session must build upon and extend the knowledge that the audience has and should logically argue why/how the the information applies to or benefits the audience's work-related activities. Your presentation must contain information reflecting relevant industry standards and/or academic knowledge about the topic. To do this you will need to use primary source materials. The presentation should sequence information in a logical manner. You may present the video either individually or with one other person. Other: The presentation must be 8-10 minutes in length and should cite five references (Does not have to be peer-reviewed materials) ALL presentations must be recorded using presentation software. You must include your face in the presentation, so that the audience is able to see your nonverbal communication cues. On campus students must bring a copy of the their video to present to the class on scheduled due date. You will need to complete two tasks. First: You need to sign up either to present by yourself or with another person. Second: Choose a topic and a week to present NOTE: Once you have chosen your topic and week to present you cannot change your option. Please see the signing up for the presentation and presentation tab in moodle. The brief should answer the following questions: What is the audience's current knowledge, skills-base and abilities? What does the audience want to know? What does the facilitator know (prior to conducting research into the topic)? What is the goals statement? What are the learning objectives? The Task: Your self reflection needs to respond to all of the following questions. What do you feel that the strengths of the presentation were? Please provide specific examples If you were to do your presentation again what would you change? Why would you change it? What would you change it to? Did all members of the group contribute equally to the presentation in accordance with the group charter. Other: The self-review should be 500 words in length, unless you are working in a group. If you are working in a group the self reflect needs to be 750 words in length. You do not need to include references. If you are working in a group each member must hand in your own response--your response must be different from those in your group.
