This assignment aims to give you experience in preparing a lesson plan that ensures the successful inclusion of a student with a disability or additional need in your class using the universal design for learning framework. Your assignment is to be based on a student you have observed (e.g., professional experience, do not name the student; media, video clip). Part1. Identify the student’s areas of need as well as his/her strengths. Using the literature to assist and support your observations, suggest how the student’s learning needs manifest. Using current literature and by referring to universal design for learning, you are required to justify the approaches you have taken (1800 words). Part 2: Using a lesson plan in your subject area that you consider successful (e.g. a lesson plan that you have prepared, a lesson that you have observed or an alternative) and where appropriate show in a different colour font how this lesson can be adapted to include students with additional needs in your class using the three principles of universal design for learning.
