The development of Information Systems requires a strong understanding of many different technological environments and an awareness of the different system development life cycles in order to determine which technologies and approaches may be most appropriate. This is especially true given the large number of web-based systems being developed, and the need for these systems to be available in as short a timeframe as possible,
Your task is to use the relevant facilities of the campus library, including relevant Lib Guides and journal databases, to research an area of technology or approaches to development of your choice. From your research, you are to produce a research essay that describes the particular area of technology or development that you have chosen, discusses in which environments and circumstances its use may or may not be appropriate, and includes your opinions of your findings.
You can choose any area of technology or development that relates to information systems. To assist you in your choice you may wish to consider some aspect of one of the following suggested topic areas:
· Mobile technologies
· Wireless technologies
· Cloud-based technologies
· Web-based systems
· Enterprise-scale systems
· Web information system development methodologies (WISDM)
· Agile system development methodologies
· Development languages (e.g. Java, C#, ASP, PHP, HTML)
· CASE tools or Framework-based development
· System security
· Social media systems
You can choose from the above or any other relevant area of your own choice. If you are uncertain of the relevancy of a topic, please discuss this with your tutor.
