Case Study: This assignment critically examines how the consumption of vegetables is affected by the per capita income and environmental issues in Malaysia. One can define Per capita income, as the average per-person income for a particular region, country or city. It helps in determining the living standard and quality of life in different regions. For a country per capita income is calculated by dividing country’s National income by its population. The whole world is facing phenomenal economic development, which is exerting immense pressure on the environment.
The Cameron Highlands is an exotic hill station in Malaysia and is a tropical rainforest that provides shelter to different flora and fauna. The Cameron Highlands satisfies 40 percent vegetable consumption in Malaysia and also exports vegetables to different neighboring countries. Due to the suitable climate for agriculture, matching the government’s commitment to increase food production and security in the country, this beautiful hill station is experiencing a development boom. The temperature in this region ranges from 16degree Celsius to 21 degree Celsius. The hill station is situated 1200 meters above the sea level. This hill station is also famous for its tea estate, farmlands, orchards, and nurseries.  
Agriculture is a sector, which is adversely affected by environmental issues such as climate change, flood, drought, etc. The primary production function depends greatly on natural resources and the environment. The environment plays a decisive role in the production process of any product. A majority of the Malaysian agricultural commodities, mainly fresh vegetables are produced in the Cameron Highlands. The Cameron Highlands has a tropical climate, which is suitable for planting highland crops. The area enjoys 2800mm of annual rainfall. But just like the other countries in the world, the Highlands are also threatened by the adverse effect of the climate change. Nowadays climate change is a serious global problem which adversely affects different groups in the society. Farmers are highly affected by climate change because they primarily depend on agriculture for their survival. Climate change is becoming a matter of concern for Malaysia also, and it is predicted to get worst in the coming year.
