Certain key skills and attributes are required for recruiting new graduates for the in-house graduate management-training program. Planning is needed while starting the recruitment. The objectives must be clear in place. The CVs must be followed up properly, and the candidates must be called for interviews. Interviews must be taken in planned manner. There must be a good monitoring process. The activities and the result must be noted down. Monitoring must be done thoroughly and consistently (Robbins and Coulter, 2005). Recruitment is one of the processes where it is very goal oriented. Whatever is done should be analyzed, and goals must be set. There should be an orderly way of approaching. Files must be managed in the systematic way. Multitasking may be done in cases if emergencies. Harassment and embarrassments must not be given in any case. There can be opposing views. However, that should be handled tactfully. A middle ground has to be reached in such cases. Policies and regulations must be abided by. The candidates are often nervous while they are into the process of recruitment. Thus, approachable and personable methods must be applied to extract out the best from the candidates. Communication is the cornerstone of recruitment. Focus should be on getting good outcomes. Priorities must be given on choosing the right candidates by adjudging all the criteria. Many graduate students apply for in-house graduate management training programs. So while selecting the best candidates, many factors have to be kept in mind (TARGETjobs, 2015). The students must have strong interpersonal skills. The ability to do social interaction and get along with people is an important factor in management graduates. There should be the ability to work in teams. The ability to work as a team leader must be checked for. Questions based on competency can be given to the candidates to answer, and the answers can be assessed. Diplomacy is one aspect of it. It should be looked into that the student is the diplomat and can deal with different people in a tactful manner in different and difficult situations. Another highly regarded quality is emotional intelligence. To build strong relationships in the workplace, a manger must understand and relate to other’s perspective. Listening skills and flexibility factors come up over here. Intellectual ability is considered vital in choosing the candidate. Evidence of intellectual ability can be looked for (Trainees Association Program Abstracts, 2014).

Entrepreneurial Instinct must be present in the candidate.  Moreover, he must make his opportunities instead of waiting for them. He must ask questions regarding instructions before following them and demand or clarification. He must be full of energy and stamina and willing to work hard. The student must be open to new ideas and changes. The students must have some power to motivate other people. He should be confident and have inspiring attitude. Having a positive attitude and being optimistic is a very important factor that has to be looked for. The management trainees must see problems as challenges, and they must walk towards providing a solution to the problems confidently. Capability to delegate, organize, set deadline, and fulfil them is not to be overlooked. Time management is important.  Other obvious skills include being customer focused and being commercially aware. Interest in working of businesses must be there as the clients are affected when they deal in business matters (Amanet.org, 2015).

The key areas needed to be included in the management-training program:

A proper management-training program enhances the candidate’s capacity to be a good manager at the end of the training program. A smart and cost effective program must be set. According to Kerzner (2013), the training must be more formal. Proselytizing must be started in the process. Training must be ingrained. It should be done at the core. A central repository can be created for content. Personal skills and team focused skills development must be included at the basic level. Day-to-day management skills, time management, analytical skills, reasoning skills should be taught at the basic level. The management training should be able to take out the best from the candidates
