Project Ethics-Written Report - All Projects have an ethics component. Whether it be the development of a natural resource, the creation of a structure or a continuous production process. Drawing on at least one but no more than three examples of projects, draw out the ethical issues that you are able to identify and then discuss either existing or potential ethical issues that attend the project. As an example, the development of gas and oilfields in different parts of the world, or the impact of agriculture and industrial processes on human communities and the natural environment such as the Great Barrier Reef. All have ethical issues attendant. In attempting the task, firstly discuss the concept of ethics, identify the ethical issues in the chosen project or projects of your choice then discuss these and suggest how the conduct of project work needs to factor these ethical issues into decision-making about the project. Conclude the Report with a discussion about the role of the professional Engineer in the conduct of projects in an ethical manner and the consequences of decision-making in the absence of an ‘ethical compass’.
