Case Study Task

During the introductory class in which we looked at a number of people and companies and their PR activities, one slide showed “celebrity couple” Roxy Jacenko and Oliver Curtis.  Roxy owns her own PR agency and has also become a celebrity in her own right.  Oliver is currently in Parklea Prison.  

Your task is to use your text and any other relevant sources to create 6 to 10 “best practices in PR” against which you can judge and evaluate Roxy Jacenko’s career as both a publicist and as a prominent Australian celebrity in her own right.  Against these practices, describe what Roxy has done well and what decisions now look poor.  What is your overall evaluation after undertaking this analysis.

Your work will be judged against the following criteria:

•Professionalism of presentation and written communication skills (remember that writing ability is the most important skill of PR professionals)
•Referencing (every quote or piece of information taken from elsewhere MUST be referenced – direct quotes must also be placed in inverted commas, ie. “……”
•Originality (the work is clearly your own work and not similar to the work of others in the class.  This will also be judged on your Turnitin score).
•Depth of analysis and critical thinking demonstrated
•Use of other sources, beginning with the textbook.

You may like to use the ProQuest database to assist with this task.  Access can be organised by the administration staff of the college.  It is also highly recommended that Google Media be used to fully understand the Jacenko career – focus on her overall career, not just the events of recent weeks.
