Effects on Families of Situational Stress due to Pandemic, Decision to Vaccinate, and changing public health advice.This is a clinical assignment utilizing telehealth during the 2021 COVID 19 pandemic while the virus continues to mutate and endanger the population. The purpose of this assignment is to gain knowledge and skills regarding working with a childbearing woman and her family if applicable, under stress, including assessment of their knowledge, perceptions, reactions, coping mechanisms and
resources. Base on the assessment, the student will provide education and support to minimize ineffective coping mechanisms and maximize positive coping mechanisms related to physical and mental health.

This assignment is grounded in the findings of a 2013 Cochrane review, which included 28 trials and nearly 17,000 participants, which found that overall, women who received a psychosocial or psychological interventions were significantly less likely to develop postpartum depression compared with those receiving standard care. The review found that both lay (peer) and professional pyscho-social interventions, including telehealth, were effective in reducing depressive symptomatology in pregnant and newly parenting people.
