This is mainly a research base essay. Little was taught about this topic in class. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 1.Summarise the current status of global biodiesel production (10 Marks) 2.Identify the important issues that impact on the economic production of algal oils for biodiesel production. Describe one other alternative to first generation resources (ie. food oils), briefly indicating benefits and potential problems (10 Marks) 3.Identify an enzyme that is or has potential to be used to catalyse industrial-scale transesterification of oils to produce biodiesel (instead of caustic). Identify key attributes of an enzyme that would be required for use in this application. (10 marks) 4.Overall quality of presentation including referencing (5 marks) Need in-text referencing with a bibliography.
