Assignment Task Students are required to submit a preliminary version of their literature review for the Qualitative Report as a standalone assessment. The purpose of this assessment is to allow students to receive feedback on their literature review, which can then be accommodated within their final qualitative report. As such, this piece of assessment is developmental, in the sense that all students will receive feedback to make their literature review in the final qualitative report better. The purpose of a literature review is to demonstrate an understanding of the key articles that have been published on the topic of research. This must include a literature review of relevant and credible sources that specifically explore reasons that people do not participate in regular tourism activity; and more specifically, why married men and women do not participate in regular tourism activity. In weeks 1 & 2 lectures, reviewing literature will be covered extensively. For further information on how to review literature, please see Bryman and Bell (2011, pp. 90-119). The Literature Review Students are required to clearly articulate key literature sources explaining the reasons that people do not participate in tourism activities. This must include a literature review of relevant and credible sources that explores the constraints that people face in participating in regular tourism activities; and more specifically, why married men and women do not participate in regular tourism activities. The literature review should be between 350-400 words long and draw on a minimum of 3 journal articles to support the arguments and points made. Students should be aware that using websites, magazines, or other non-academic sources is unsuitable and will negatively influence marks. Instead, efforts should be made to cite available peer-reviewed journal articles (we will cover how to determine peer-reviewed journal articles in weeks 1 & 2). Students should also provide a full reference list of all sources that were used in the Literature Review using the APA 6 referencing style.
