One of the most terrifying events in the history of Western Civilization was the sudden arrival of the bubonic plague, or the Black Death, in the middle of the Fourteenth Century. Estimates vary, but somewhere between a 1/4 and 1/3 of the population of Europe perished during this time. It spread with tremendous rapidity and with horrifying results.
After reading through the material in your textbook, think about what happened. Could it happen again? What would be the results of a pandemic plague in the modern world? How would it be similar to what happened in Europe centuries ago? How would it be different? 200 words for this assignment.
