BUS002 Australian Legal Environment and Ethics
Task:
The following are the details from your subject handout:
Prepare an Essay Outline and Proposal for the following question:
Discuss the legal and governance structure of an organisation or business. Provide either a (i) Christian perspective, a (ii) perspective from a non-profit organisation.
A template is provided for your essay outline and proposal, and should include the following information:
1.The business/organisation of choice to be approved by your tutor
2.Thoroughly research the question, starting with your textbook and lecture notes.
3.A bibliography of 3-5 academic sources to be included for feedback from your tutor
4.An essay outline including notes for your introduction, body, conclusion (include at least 2-3 points for each paragraph planned in your body)
Here are some further details provided to you from your subject coordinator:
The idea is to focus on a small business or non-profit organisation and provide details to us on the legal framework involved to run, via the major legal frameworks we've discussed in class, i.e. contract law, consumer law, tort law etc. Examples are a great idea to add into this, remembering that usually legal issues usually have a similar case for precedence.
To make it easier to write, you can narrow it down to a scenario. Here are some examples you can use if you are stuck:
Running an event on church property (what does it involve? is there food? is there kids?)
Preparing a launch for a store front for a small business (what would you need to consider as the owner?)
You need to choose a business name for your company, what is involved in choosing this name in the legal sense?
What liability would you have as a non-profit organization for the safety of a volunteer? Name a scenario that could happen and the legal framework and procedures that are involved
We will be assessing you only on what is covered in the unit of course but be sure to research on any government procedures that are involved in these scenarios. We only expect that you can answer the best as you can from a perspective as an organisation leader/manager or small business owner.
This is based on the assessment task 4 as you are completing an outline and proposal. We will be marking you based on the direction towards this criteria and giving you feedback according to the same criteria as well.
