A: This is an essay. Essay format should be applied. Introduction, body and Conclusion. Q: What is the word limit? A: 1800 words +/ - 10% Q: What referencing standards should be used? A: APA 7 th Standard inclusive of intext citations, reference list and formatting. Q: Are references included in the word count? A: Yes, all in - text citations and direct quotes are included in the word count. The reference list is not included in the word count. Q: What is the due date and time for AT2? Tuesday 19 th October at 0900 hrs. 3 | Directorate | Office | Faculty | School Q: Where do I start with this assignment? A: 1. Read the case study (more than once), 2. Choose a CPG from the ones provided 3. Revise NPCS, NMBA and NSQHSS Q: Do we need to reference the case study, CPG and ACD? A: Yes, these documents should be referenced and cited. Q: I am referring to the case study a lot and it is using a lot of my word count. What should I do? A: If you are referring to the case study too much, it could be an indication you are describing information in the case study. We do not need a description, we want you to critically analyse the care provided. Q: Do we need to provide a critique of the CPG? A: No. You are to use the CPG to critique the care provided. You may find that some aspects of care are missing in the CPG. It is ok to mention this, however be sure to back up your comments with literature and not just your opinion. Q: Do we need to critique both negative and positive episodes of care? A: It would be a well rounded critique if you did critique care that was positive and also care that was not done should be able to identify when the care provided is good and also when it needed to be improved. 4 | Directorate | Office | Faculty | School Q: Do we need to use all the NPCS, NMBA and the NSQHSS throughout the essay? A: Please look at the rubric. In order to achieve a HD in the K&U criteria, you need to refer to the NPCS and at least one of the other two standards. Q: What is meant by A: An episode of care is any time where care was provided. This could be an assessment, a nursing intervention, a referral to another service, omission of care. Q: Do we need to be specific when referring to the NMBA standards? A: Yes, be specific. For e.g. refer to NMBA standard 4.3 and not just standard 4. This will demonstrate greater K&U and also greater application of the standards. Q: How many references do I need in my reference list? A: Minimum 7 appropriate references to achieve a P in this criterion. Minimum 8 - 10 appropriate references to achieve a credit in this criterion. Minimum 11 - 14 appropriate references to achieve a D in this criterion. Minimum:15 appropriate references to achieve a HD in this criterion. Q: How many episodes of care do we need to critique? A: AS A GUIDE ONLY To provide an in depth critique of the care provided include 4 - 6 episodes of care. Refer to the rubric for more understanding on what the expectation is. 5 | Directorate | Office | Faculty | School Q : What references do we use for the Case Study, ACD and CPG? A : All references are for these documents are in the reference list attached to the case study. Q : Can the ACD be used to support arguments despite Tyler being cognitively intact? A : Yes. Although Tyler was cognitively intact until the time of death and the ACD was not evoked, he was communicating his wishes in interactions with health professionals. He was essentially communicating his wishes that were documented in the ACD. Do not give an extensive description of the case study. All markers know the case study and therefore do not need to read your version of it. This is a poor use of word count. Be clear, direct and to the point when identifying episodes of care. Support all your work with evidence either from literature, NPCS, NMBA or NSQHSS. Refrain from including your personal opinion. Use of professional language is imperative. When critiquing the care, remember it was provided Mechanics Please ensure you use Australian English and NOT American English. Disregard the spell check on your word processors if it is set at American English. Remember the difference between descriptive and critique. Descriptive work describes a situation or episode of care focusing on the how, what, when and where . Critical work or critique provides a detailed analysis and assessment of a situation or episode of care focusing on the why.
