Choose ONE of the two case scenarios to base your Court Report on. Please ensure you use the corresponding template for each report. These will be available on LEO soon.
Case scenario 1: Cleo’s case
You are a social worker employed by a domestic and family violence advocacy service. Your client, Cleo, and their lawyer have asked you to prepare a report for a Family Court case. Your report will help inform the Judge in their decision about which parent Cleo and their former partner Stephen’s children will primarily live with.
Cleo (she/they, 32 years of age) was referred to you by a social worker at the local Family Relationship Centre around 10 months ago, and you have been working with them and their children since. You have been supporting Cleo in applying to the Family Court for Parenting Orders. Cleo had separated from their husband, Stephen (he/him, 33 years of age), a few weeks prior to her first meeting with you. Cleo and Stephen have two children, Jemima (she/her, 4 years) and Sage (she/her, 18 months). Jemima was 3 years old and Sage was 8 months old at the time when Cleo and Stephen separated.
Case Scenario 2: Tabitha’s case
You are a social worker employed by a domestic violence service. Your client, Tabitha, has asked you to prepare a report for the Children’s Court. Your report will help inform the Magistrate in their decision about whether or not Tabitha will keep her son in her care.
