Submit Assessment 3 - Report Assessment Details Write a report that examines a social issue from a critical social work perspective. Purpose The purpose of this report is to consider how critical social work theory can be applied to social work practice. This report is an extension of the knowledge gained as part of Assessment 2. The report should describe critical social work approaches to working with a population group which is experiencing a social issue. Population groups experiencing social issues can include refugee and asylum seekers, older adults, people with mental health issues, people with a disability, people who are unemployed, people who are homeless, people experiencing domestic violence, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Assessment Process The report should include the following information: 1. An examination of the social issue and the effects of the social issue on the population group 2. Historical overview of the social issue 3. Current context of the social issue 4. Impact of political and economic factors on the population group 5. Outline of the particular critical discourses in which the issue is discussed 6. A clear understanding of the use of critical social work theory in responding to the social issue 7. Provide examples of critical social work approaches that have responded to the social issue (such as the practice strategies, programs and/ or policies that have been raised for addressing the issue). 8. Critical reflection of self in context to critical theory and your identified social issue 9. Critical theory and practice recommendations for you as a developing social work practitioner Assessment Criteria – Task 1. Clear articulation of the social issue ensuring anti-oppressive language 2. Succinct historical overview of the issue 3. Understanding of the current context of the issue 4. Exploration of the impact of political and economic factors 5. Outline of the critical discourses in which the issue is discussed 6. A clear understanding of the use of critical approached to examine the social issue 7. Identification of the critical theory and practice strategies, programs and/ or policies that have been raised for addressing the issue 8. Clear identification of social work practice applications 9. Critical reflection of self in context to critical theory and your identified social issue 10. Critical theory and practice recommendations for you as a developing social work practitioner 11. Appropriate choice of academic literature 12. Report style format (introduction, body – with section headings, conclusion, with in-text citations and a reference list) and appropriate professional language 13. Main ideas clearly and logically presented 14. Correct grammar, spelling and punctuation 15. first/third person writing style is applied where relevant style 16. Referencing using APA (6th edition) conventions i have also attached some readings to be included.
