Vlad III was known as Dracula. He was considered as one of the most important rulers in Wallachia. Vlad III was born into a noble family. When he was born, there was fighting between the Christian Holy Roman Empire and the Muslim Ottoman Empire. He was a national hero of Romania and a medieval prince, who was thirsted for blood. Vlad Impaler was the second son of “Vlad Dracul”. He was officially known as “Vlad Tepes”, “Voivode of Wallachia”, “Vlad III” and “Vlad Dracula”. Dracula means “son of Dracul”, this was the reason behind his name as “Dracula”. The European country of Romania was split into three principalities: Wallachia, Transylvania, and Moldova. He was the most powerful ruler of Wallachia. He was the Prince of Wallachia during the 15th century. He had three brothers; elder brother, Mircea, and Radu. He married Justina Szilagyi and had a son named Mihnea cel Rau. Vlad III and Radu traded in the Ottoman Empire as collateral and were captive for years. During his trade, his brother Mircea was made blind and was buried alive. After then Vlad II Dracul was killed by political rivals which gave a shock to Vlad III. Vlad III was full of sorrow and made him cruel and influenced him to kill thousands of people brutally. His favorite way of killing people was by impaling and tearing them apart. During his rule, the expansion of the Ottoman Empire in Western Europe was the state where most Muslims were located. He was also known as the sadistic madman for his cruelty and revered as a savior in his Turkish domination. Vlad Tepes the Impaler was born in the year 1431 in Transylvania and died at the age of 45 in 1476. He ruled in Wallachia three times in 1448, then from 1456- 1462 and 1476. Vlad was named as Tepes, the Romania translation for “The Impaler” by impaling his enemies through large stakes. The impalement procedure was either vertically or horizontally executed through the core of the body. Sometimes he was impaling thousands of prisoners at the same time which left many victims in agony for several days.

He was famous for killing thousands of people in gruesome ways. He was successful in invading Wallachia with the support of Hungarian. He was famous for killing by impaling the enemies and was a ruthless leader. Vlad after the death of his father and brother in the Ottoman Empire. He wanted to take revenge, so he began to purge in Wallachia to strengthen his position. Vlad broke into Wallachia but Ottoman captured the fortress and strengthened it. He conflicted with the Transylvanian Saxons who were the supporters of his opponents. The Ottoman Sultan ordered Vlad to pay for homage personally. This made Vlad refuse his proposal and he captured Sultan’s envoys and impaled them brutally. Then he attacked Ottoman territory and killed thousands of Turks. Vlad was killed in battle in the year 1477. Vlad was buried in the church of Comana Monastery, which was established by Vlad. It was near to his battlefield where he was killed. This book was inspired by Vlad Dracula’s cruel act. It also inspired by strengthening the central government in applying brutal punishment in Russia. Vlad’s reputation for cruelty and patronymic inspired the character of vampire count Dracula in Bram Stoker’s novel.
