What Makes The Great Pyramids Of Giza: Famous Discussed Structures In History

Referencing Styles : Harvard | Pages : 1

The great pyramid of Giza is one of the seven wonders in the earth it is the most famous and discussed structures in the history. These massive monuments were unsurpassed in height for millions of years after these were constructed, and continue to amaze the entire world with their overwhelming mass and seemingly impossible perfection.  their perfect orientation and mind blowing construction has completely out of the imagination of the common science and the general theories , even it is believed that some extra ordinary power has been used to construct such big monuments at that time. The main wonder of the pyramid was its huge size and the way it was crafted. However, after many research and experiments the historians concluded that these incredible structures were constructed after many experiments, and represent a summit in the development of the royal mortuary complex.

The rulers of Khufu, khafre and menkaure, built the three primary pyramids on the Giza plateau over the span of three generations. Each pyramid was the part of the royal mortuary complex that also included a temple at the base and a long stone causeway, which expanded from the east of the plateau to a valley temple on the edge of the floodplain.

Beside the main pyramid, there are several other small pyramids and a small tomb, which belongs to the queens, is arranged as satellites. A major cemetery of smaller tombs known as mastabas( Arabic for bench in reference ton their shape flat roofed , rectangular with slopping sides ), which fills the area to the east and west of the pyramid of khufu and were  built like patter4n for prominent members of the court . being buries near the pharaoh was considered to be of great honor and that ensure a prized place in the afterlife.

The shape of the pyramid was so made that it can give solar reference; it can be constructed as a solidified version of the rays of the sun. it was believed that the pharaoh will mount the sunrays to climb to the sky the earliest pyramid were designed as a staircase. The pyramid was constructed with the sacred ben-ben stone an icon of the primeval mount that was considered the place of initial creation. The pyramid was considered a place of regeneration for the deceased ruler.

There are still many mysteries about the construction process of the pyramid and theories abound as to the actual methods used. The workforce used for the construction of the pyramid was still a mystery as the kind of work that has been done is beyond the capacity of the modern day’s engineers then how the people of ancient times have done such kind of construction. It was discovered that seasonal crews of approximately 2000-conscripted peasants employed a group of permanent skilled crafts man and builders.

These crews were divided into groups of 200 men with every group was further divided into teams of 20. From the research of the historians it has been observed that these groups of 20 men could haul the 2.5 ton blocks from quarry to pyramid in about 20 minutes, there path was eased by a lubricated surface of wet silt. It was estimated that 340 stones could be moved on daily basis from the quarry to the construction site, particularly when one considers that many of the blocks were considerably smaller.

Some interesting facts on how the pyramids were built are stated below

Khufu’s pyramid known as the great pyramid of Giza is the oldest and largest rising at 481 feet. Archeologists say it was the tallest structure in the world for about 3800 years.

The sphinx is a 73.5-meter long monument built during the reign of khafra. The creature is mythical being commonly found in Greek, Egyptian and even south Asian ancient architecture.

Khafre and menkaure’s pyramids are much smaller and simpler in design than khufus massive structure. When the pyramid was first build, the pyramids were covered in white limestone much of which was eroded over the years.

Contrary to popular depictions, the Egyptian pyramids were not build by large group of slaves or prisoners, as claimed by many historians. Egyptians were employed and archeologists estimate the workers would have ha set of 2.5 to 15 ton block every two and half minutes to finish the pyramid in about 30 years.

According to the historians, the main purpose of the pyramids was to bury the king’s body after his death. The Giza pyramid have elaborate tunnel systems inside containing gold and other precious metals that the Egyptians thought would be useful in the afterlife.

This huge work process has been done in such a smooth manner that even in the modern days also it was not possible to do such huge work in such a short time. The pyramid was so famous because of its extraordinary size and the type of designs that were encrypted on the wall of the pyramids. The entire world still failed to find out the technology that has been used to build such huge pyramid. The material that has been used in the construction of the pyramid was still a unsolved mystery to the modern science. The pyramid was so old but still it seems like it has been constructed few years ago this has made the pyramid so famous. In the modern days, many people believe that aliens have worked in the construction of the pyramid.

The entire shape of the pyramid was made in such a manner that even in the modern days the scientists failed to understand the technology and the science that has been used for the construction. Each tomb of the pyramid is accurate and there is no fault found in the shape of the pyramid. The pyramid due to its uniqueness were inscribed into the UNESCO world heritage list in 1979, and since 1990, the organization has sponsored over a dozen missions to evaluate their status.
