Questions:
This case study assessment is to analyse, not just describe the examples used critically to aid in preparing you for the transition from student nurse to graduate RN. Part of any employment application RNs is required to address selection criteria to demonstrate knowledge, skills and safe practice.
The case study assessment requires you to address the below two (2) selection criteria using case study examples from your current or previous clinical practicums.
Essential Selection Criteria:
Question 1:
Demonstrates knowledge and application of critical thinking within the clinical setting.
Question 2:
Demonstrates effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
When addressing the selection criteria, you must use a different example for each criterion. The criteria must be addressed in the star format (see below for more information on star). It is strongly recommended that you use the headings;
Situation; Task; Action; Results; and Reflection to help guide your paper. All aspects of each selection criteria must be addressed with appropriate examples given to demonstrate achieving the criteria.
The selection criteria must demonstrate critical thinking and the actions you performed must be justified using current literature to support your Answer.
Reflection on your practice as a student nurse and recommendations for your future practice must also be included.
Question 3:
What task/s do you need to perform? Please be specific describe any obstacles had to be overcome? (Only if relevant) This section may not necessarily require references; it is dependent on the task you set out to complete. References are only required if you are citing evidence based practice.
Action- This section requires current literature to support your actions.
Question 4:
What steps/actions were taken to complete the task? For example, resources, people involved. Please make sure you use current literature to support your actions here. You must demonstrate critical thinking in this section.
The action that you completed is not to be referenced, as you complete it in the role as student nurse. But you must justify the action using current literature.

What was the outcome? Did it change things in the workplace?
