Assignment Information

Businesses operate in a complex and dynamic environment and as a result the role of a manager is constantly being challenged.

1. Identify and critically discuss any two management concepts you have covered (chapter headings are good guides into the concepts you have covered) in this unit and explain how they are relevant to managers operating in today’s business environment and how they can help managers maximize value creation within an organisation.

2. When doing so, you may choose to focus on particular concepts that youhave noticed within your own organisation or those you have witnessed in an organisation you have been employed in that were handled particularly wellor poorly. You may also choose to identify issues you have noticed through stories in the media that you think management concepts could have handled. Alternatively, you may choose to focus on concepts you believe are going to be critical in the development of your own venture.

Whatever the concepts are you decided to focus on, it is important that you find some that relate to you and the rest of your world outside of study.

Within your essay you will be expected to:

1. Clearly explain two management concepts you have covered in the unit;

2. Discuss why these concepts are relevant and important to the organisation you are focusing on; and

3. Explain how you as a manager would/could utilise these concepts to create value in the organisation.
