His name is Plato , and he is currently attending his first junior year in nursing school. We met and I asked him a couple of questions to know about his nursing school experiences, strengths, challenges , and strategies to hand le the challenges . ‘What have you found difficu lt to adapt ?’ He said, ‘ The Most Challenging Part Is Adapting To The Diversities Of The Nursing Education Since I Find As If There Is Nothing That Can Prepare The Nursing Student For Their Exams, and we have to keep learning all through (Dieckmann, et al, 2017) The long shifts and hectic schedules for m large part of the learning in the clinical environments and it deprives me of the social life I was used to, striking a balance is not easy .’ I asked him, " what are your strength ?" 'M y greatest strength is in my ability to listen to what patients are telling me. It would be very frustrating for them to feel their concerns are not being heard. Growing up in a home of nursing professionals equipped with insights into what is needed when dealing directly with patients and I know the extent to which active listening can go in helping a patient and making them feel comfortable ready for medication (Weller et al., 2018) . I feel the skills are vital in helping me to address the concerns of my patients and ensuring they receive the quality of care is maintained . Through the skills , I will also be able to establish a patient advocacy program which would be useful in helping the other nurses to improve on their listen ing skills I asked him about his main concern was , and he said , "the nursing education has been challenging getting ready for the exam is a challenging task. My schedules are also hectic as I INTRODUCTION TO NURSING 3 have to spend long hours studying , denying me my social life. Balancing the studies and socia l life makes life hard , but I am managing it. " 'What strategies are you using to co pe with the concerns? He answered, "Following my busy schedule, I normally find myself stressed at times , but I have noted that getting meticulous organization and paying attention to all details helps me utilize my time well and avoid last - minute last to build up stress. I have a priority of what I have to accomplish each day. And hence I find myself managing tasks that would otherwise not be manageable. It also helps me s tay calm and focus on the set targets for the day unless the unexpected arises ." "What do you are some of the challenging parts of the course? 'and Plato says ,' "the hardest part is dealing with the feeling of helplessness for a job that needs me to provide much support, comfort , and care , but at times you can 't do anything (Lee et al., 2019) Meeting someone in deep p ain but can 't help them to deal with the situation. However , I still care and still stand firm to offer my help to my patients .’’ I aske d him ‘Why he decided to go for a nursing career? ’ He said, " I come from a long line of nurses who have been the source of my motivation. My mother and grandmother were nurses , and thus I grew up how they were accomplishing their roles and nurses , and I got much inspiration from them. However , I love engaging tasks and providing solutions to the people , which I believe is achievable through my nursing career (Lee et al., 2019) . In addition, it has always been my motivation to make an impact in oth er people 's lives since that is what makes my life worthwhile. " INTRODUCTION TO NURSING 4 The last question I asked him, what makes you happy about nursing ? And he answered ," I feel happy and motivated when my hands are on those who have a problem . To me, the happiest moment is when I help people to get satisfied with their pains. Having to spend my ent ire life with patients makes me happy as I know I will provide the solution they will be looking for and help make someone comfortable and enjoy life. Working with patients in wor ds and putting a smile on their face s is my source of joy (Kim, et al.,2018) . I will be happy to admit , attending to them and eventually releasing them to go home healed. I will be happy to for my assistance for anything in between. Also, I am happy when listening to other s, for I know how it feels to see someone ignore me.
