The pace of local, regional and global-scale change is accelerating.  While such rapid and broad change may provide certain advantages, it is generally agreed that potential risks compromise the sustainability of our planet.   s a Sustainability Professional, how will you fit in?  What types of careers are you interested in pursuing?  What issues are of interest to you?  Would you like to focus your efforts on local change, be part of the global movement; or both?  The purpose of the course project is to encourage you to examine future social, economic and environmental challenges and identify if and how these challenges may provide opportunities for you, as a Sustainability Professional.  To maximize learning potential, the project is customizable to your unique goals.  So, be sure to take the necessary time to design a project that will benefit you the most.Your task is to select a specific social, environmental or economic issue, to track that issue within the media over the duration of the course.  Based on media coverage identify trends, risks and opportunities for Sustainability Professionals.  For example, perhaps food security and food waste is of interest to you.  After following this topic in the media, you realize the Federal government has recently committed to millions of dollars in funding, and solutions are being developed right here, in our region.
