Psychodynamics can be defined as the relation between conscious and unconscious emotional and mental forces which helps in determining the motivation and personality in humans. Another term for psychodynamic psychology is psychodynamic psychology. The concept of psychodynamics is related to the broad aspect of psychology, which contribute towards emphasizing the systematic study of human psychological forces which underlines the human emotion, feelings and human behavior. The human behavior and feelings are focused by relating to the past experiences of the individual. The theories in Psychodynamics mainly aim towards the connection between unconscious and conscious form of motivation. The conception of psychodynamics are used for referring to the approach by Sigmund Freud. Sigmund Freud developed the theories regarding thermodynamics and utilized the term psychodynamics for understanding the functioning of the mind with the psychological energy flow in human brain. Four elements constructs the theory of psychological treatment, humanistic treatment, biological treatment, psychodynamics and cognitive behavioral treatment. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is considered as less rigorous with sessions of one to two weeks in comparison with the classical theory of Freudian psychoanalysis treatment, which is of three to five sessions. The psychodynamic therapies are dependent upon the existence of inner conflict of individuals. Psychodynamics is known for deducing the interconnection between different sections of mind, psyche and personality due to the relation with emotional, mental and motivational forces specifically at unconscious level. In psychodynamics, mental forces can be categorized in two parts, the inner forces that influence behavior, depicting studies related to motivational and emotional forces, which affects state of mind and human behavior. The second constituent of psychodynamics is interaction of motivational and emotional forces which influence mental state and human behavior. The concepts of Freud reflected the constant nature of psychological energies, which tends to rest during the process of discharge. The studies under psychodynamics determines the psychic energy exchange in regards with human personality. The concept of psychodynamics concentrates on the connection of the emotional state between super ego, ego and Id due to the relation with early childhood processes and developments. In psychological processes, Freud explained that ego is the battling emotion with three other forces of psychology, super-ego, external forces and the id. Superego in psychology comprised of the moral values of individuals through the understanding of the rules and norms of internalization of the society. The superego aims at internalization of goals and objectives. The concept of id can be explained as unconscious reservoir of the libido. Id depicts the fueling energy that energizes psychic and instincts processes. Ego contribute like general manager for shaping decisions in relation to pleasures, which is to be followed based on the demand of id. The ego in psychology depicts the safety requirements and moral dictates of superego. The model of psychodynamic concentrates on interrelation among ego, superego and id. The conception of psychodynamics is known for explaining the behavior in regards with the innate emotion force in human psychology.
The theories under psychodynamic depicts the collaboration of all the psychological theories that directs focus on importance of forces in the human functioning and drives, specifically the unconscious drives. The approach of psychodynamics reflects the dependency of adult relationships and personality on the childhood experiences. The origin of the theory of psychodynamic was shaped by the psychoanalytic theories of Freud. The theory of psychodynamic is comprised of theories of Carl Jung, Anna Freud and Erik Erikson. With the help of therapeutic experience of Sigmund Freud with patients, he developed numerous theories in the field of psychology. The learning from the theoretical development of Sigmund Freud inspired psychology theorists like Alfred Adler and Carl Jung. The first person to introduce the conception of psychodynamics was Freud. Sigmund Freud constructed the theory on the basis of the observation of his patients. The origin of the theory was marked by the psychological symptoms of patients with the absence of biological changes. The symptoms were not healing without various conscious efforts. Through the observation in the whole process of the patients, Sigmund Freud concluded that the source of these symptoms must be through the unconscious being as the conscious efforts were not useful. Thus, it was deduced from the incidences that the conscious will was constantly opposed by unconscious will, thereby the origin of ‘psychodynamics’. The concept of psychodynamic was constructed for including all the theories developing through the basic tenets of Freud. The term ‘psychodynamic’ is often interchanged with ‘psychoanalytic’. In spite of the interchangeability, the two concept hold different history. The theory of psychoanalytic was originated through the theories and concepts of Sigmund Freud, whereas the origin of the concepts of psychodynamic reflects the theories of Freud along with the ideas of Erik Erikson, who stressed on psychological theories of the human development and the theories of Jung regarding archetypes. In the psychological theory of human development, Erik Erikson reflected the significance of overcoming various challenges in different phase of life for the purpose of success. Another theory contributing to the psychodynamic approach, is Alfred Adler theory. In the theory of Alfred Adler, he explained the presence of insecurity. The sense of insecurity is found from the first phase of life in a newborn. Alfred Adler reflected that the sense of insecurity act as a driving force for the individuals and leads to the state of superiority by the thriving force. Alfred Adler also depicted that the birth order also plays a significant role in determining the personality of children, the first born usually develops the sense of insecurity after the birth of his or her younger sibling. The theories of Carl Jung depicted the different aspects of mind, through the constitution of psyche in association of the manner of influence. He reflected the concepts of persona and shadow, where the persona is known for depicting the image portrayed to world and the shadow hides the inner thoughts and anxieties. Jung depicted the shared thoughts as ‘archetypes’, which infuse collective unconscious and originates as characters and themes in dreams by developing in culture like in the books, paintings and movies.
