Community Health Promotion

This course includes the application of conceptual as well as philosophical tenets of nursing science, practices, and values in delivering mental health nursing care as well as the overall health of the population. Nursing 434 is a community health promotion course that focuses on population health, the strategies of health promotion, the principles of primary health care, and epidemiology concepts when nursing with families, individuals, groups, populations, communities, and systems. The students will be able to translate theory to practice by completing application activities that integrate knowledge related to the responsibilities and roles of community health nurses. After completing the assignment, the student will be able to learn the ways of applying the nursing process to improve the health outcomes for families, populations, and individuals across the continuum of care and lifespan. Furthermore, on completion, the students will be able to implement evidence-based health promotion, disease prevention interventions, and risk-reduction strategies for families, populations, and individuals across the lifespan. The students will be able to demonstrate professional as well as personal values that place an individual’s interests, populations, and families at the center of interprofessional health care delivery and population health programs and policies that aim to promote health equity. Furthermore, the students will be able to demonstrate effective therapeutic communication skills and psychosocial assessment in the mental health setting across the lifespan and continuum of care. Next, the students will be able to apply social as well as ethnic factors as well as the concepts of cultural diversity to provide care to individuals, populations, and families across the lifespan and continuum of care. The students will be able to evaluate intra-as well as inter-professional communication and collaboration for improving the health outcomes of families, individuals, and populations across the continuum of care and the lifespan. Residents will be able to analyze the legal, political, and ethical implications of nursing care for families, populations, and individuals, across the lifespan and continuum of care.

Nursing 434 is a community health promotion course that focuses on population health, the strategies of health promotion, the principles of primary health care, and epidemiology concepts when nursing with families, individuals, groups, populations, communities, and systems. This assignment consists of seven-course units that have been organized into two sections. Every unit follows the basic format with 3 components: The focusing component, which involves the unit learning outcomes and a short exercise to help the students focus on the key concepts in the unit; the practicing component, which outlines the learning resources of the course and learning activities for the unit; and the reflecting component, that gives a summary of the unit. With the help of this course, the students will be able to integrate the concept of population health into their community health nursing practice. Section 1 is Understanding Concepts Basic to Community Health Promotion, which has four units. Unit 1 is Community Health Nursing, Unit 2 is Population Health, Health Promotion, and Primary Health Care, Unit 3 is Epidemiology and Community Health, and Unit 4 is Factors Affecting Community Health. Section 2 of this assignment is Developing Community Health Promotion Programs: The Process and it consists of 3 units are Units 5, 6, and 7. Unit 5 is about Assessing and Analyzing a Community. Unit 6 is about Developing a Community Diagnosis and Planning a Health Promotion Program. And Unit 7 is about Implementing and Evaluating a Health Promotion Program. The assignment has four parts.
