Many interviews include a question on conflict management with the use of an example. You will read the question below and type your response. It is okay if you didn't manage the conflict exactly how you would now; you can explain how you would now do it differently. Employers want to see that you can demonstrate self-reflection, not that you handled conflict perfectly already.
Many employers use the STAR format for evaluating interview responses. Keep this in mind when responding:
Situation: Briefly explain the issue you were dealing with in a positive, constructive way.
Task: Describe your role in the situation.
Action: Discuss what you did to resolve or address the situation.
Result: Emphasize what you learned and how your actions had a positive outcome.
The Interview Question: How do you deal with conflict? Use an example from your workplace, or place of education, where you experienced conflict. Describe what you reacted and what you would do differently now. Remember the STAR format outlined above when responding
2.Describe a conflict you have experienced in your life. Make sure to include who the conflict was with, a brief history of the relationship, what occurred, etc. This part is important so I can understand your responses for the remaining questions. (2 marks)
3.Answer each question:
?What is YOUR conflict management style?
?How did this style affect how you approached the conflict?
How did your style affect the outcome of the conflict? Think both about the positives and negatives.
