Leather and Noting Else

ENGLISH ASSIGNMENT Student name- Student ID- 1 ENGLISH ASSIGNMENT 1. In the novel “Leather and Noting Else ”the writer Hernanado Tellez has presented a plot which reflects several plot within the one textual context. There are two plot such as morality and duty, and violence. In this critical appreciation of the novel, Iwill talk about the violence of the story which is the main event of the story. The barber has to serve acustomer against whom he works secretly with the revolutionary group. While the barber was shaving his beard Captain Torres was having the thought of killing the person in his mind with the blade. When the man was talking about killing of the revolutionary leaders, the barber in his mind deeply wanted to kill him. But rather he asked the man if itwas agood show or not. What was holding him form killing is his moral duty and responsibility towards his job. He thought that he has to be loyal towards his job as abarber. When Torres invited him for the “show ”he immediately thought itcould be benefited for their revolutionary group because if Torres started to trust him, he will get the information about their activity. Hence, he did not dare to do that. 2. There are three parts under the plot in the. In one part, the barber was thinking about his responsibility as barber, where he was planning to shave Captain Torres properly without giving him any cut and was thinking about associating with him, so he can help has group with the secret information. In the next part, the barber was thinking about to kill the captain with his blade silently, so that he can not feel any pain. But here he was facing conflict with self when he started to think that some people will consider him as their avenger who has saved them, and some will hates him for killing aman unfairly. Here we can see that the “blood ”has used as ironical element in the novel. The barber was afraid of killing and shading blood of aman who himself is the responsible for shading so many bloods and the barber also is involved with agroup who have also killed so many people.
