A 52 year old female attends her GP surgery. She complains that she feels tired all the time and has been suffering from frequent headaches and blurred vision. She thinks her tiredness may be related to the fact that she is having to get up several times in the night to urinate. Her GP notes that she is overweight with a BMI of 29.

1. An oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) will most likely be performed to confirm the diagnosis of this patient. State the expected results for a healthy individual. What results might be expected from our patient? 

2. Describe how insulin release from the pancreas is regulated by changes in blood glucose levels. Include details of all the cells/tissues involved.
