IT governance structure at University of Canberra:

IT governance is concerned with the decision making process regarding the usage of the information technology in the organization or the institution (Wu,Straub and Liang 2015). The governance of IT is important as the successful deployment of the information technology in the organization is dependent on the decisions taken.

The governance body of University of Canberra has fifteen members. Apart from that there is a committee of 30 members and the responsibility of this team is to give specific advice which will help in the decision making process regarding IT governance (Khouja et al. 2018). The governance process regarding the decision making is concerned about the relevance of the decision making process and the way decisions are taken into the action. The lack of the decisions making process and the governance of IT can lead to the high turnover of the organization, improper implementation of the system and lack of vision and strategy.

In case of University of Canberra there is a member committee of 30 members. However, the number of member can be decreased and small team based on the specialization of the task or the domain knowledge. This will help the board members to receive the quality advice regarding the governance of IT.

Each committee can select one of the most experienced members to assist them rest of the team members. All the team will be leaded by the chairman of the university board.  The main function of the committee will be to evaluate the different policies and the planning for the implementation of the IT in the University. Apart from that the committees will also inform the current situation regarding the whole IT system to the Chairman and the board members. Based on the reports, the board members can make important decisions regarding the modification and the improvisation of the IT system in the university (Bianchi and Sousa 2016). Moreover the committees can search for the emerging technologies those can be beneficial for the university to carry on the operations in more effective way along with that the technologies those can be student and user friendly. These recommendations of the technologies will be helpful for the improvement of the flexibility of the working system in the university.

The recommendations are made by the committee members to the governing body of the university that is responsible for the IT governance. The main agenda those can be the concern of the committees will include the evaluation of the existing IT governance and the modification and the improvisation needed for the existing system (Joshi et al. 2018). The recommendations can be made to the on the basis of the current trend the other organizations are adopting and the effectiveness of the different technologies.

Apart from that the board of members should be aware about the technologies those can be used for enhancement of the flexibility of the system. The knowledge about the technology will help to consider the different recommendations suitable for the university.
