The distribution channel of online application looks at the network that is used in getting the product from the creator to the end user. For online applications, distribution channels are usually indirect, as the products will change hands before reaching the ultimate consumer. The first channel is through content making. Here one needs to create attractive content in a blog or a guest post. This is good as it helps in building credibility and establish oneself in the industry. As the content is interesting, people will be attracted to the blog and in turn, they will click through the application (Varshneya, 2014). As people continue reading, the search engine will generate traffic for the online app. The other distribution channel is through the paid placements across the search engines like Bing and google or the social platforms like twitter, Linkedln and Facebook. The third channel is through viral loop, this is when the application gains popularity and more people continue sharing their experience with the application thus getting more people to click and install the application and use it.
The intensity of distribution for the mobile application is usually selective and it will depend on the people the application is targeting. For example, when targeting the working class or the group that is earning, then selective distribution will make use of paid placement on the google play store to help get more people to download the application, here it is important to make use of key words to encourage traffic for the application being downloaded. Selective distribution can direct the user to the download link like games, shopping, hotel and the like (Businessdirectory, 2017).
