Walmart Canada was founded on March 17, 1994. It consists of Hart stores, discount stores, as well as Giant tiger. It is one of the biggest retailers in terms of revenue as well as in terms of number of employees. The mission statement of the company is to save the money of people so that they can live in a better way. By using this statement, Walmart is charging lower prices in order to attract more and more customers. The vision statement of Walmart is to be the destination where customers can save money without considering how they want to shop. This vision of the company was changed in the year 2017. Previously, the vision statement of Walmart was to be the best retailer in the mind and heart of employees and customer. The organization structure followed by Walmart is hierarchical functional organizational structure. This structure has two features: hierarchy and functional based. The hierarchical feature relates to the vertical line of authority as well as command in the organizational structure. It means every employee have their superior except the CEO. On the other side, functional-based definition of the organization involves the group of employees performing certain functions. In Walmart, there are various departments such as information technology, human resource department, production, and marketing department. These entire departments perform different function based on the task allocated to them.
In every organization, the changes are required to be implemented successfully. As a human resource manager, I will always search the need of change that it is necessary or not. After seeing the major problem in any of the area, I would like to find out the root cause of the problem before taking any further action. In Walmart, the major change is required in its stores that are not systematically arranged. In order to bring this change, I would first identify the reasons behind the problem. After getting the reasons of the problem, it becomes easy to successfully implemented those changes in organization. Therefore, the main problem in the Walmart stores is uneven distribution of products. This problem can be solved by taking certain steps. Lack of supervision is the main reason for this problem. This can be fixed by taking careful change on the employees so that they perform their responsibility in a positive manner. In addition to this, the problem can also be solved by taking time-to-time check on employees so that the problems can be conveying in a better way. All these will be implemented in the organization so that results can be find out in a best manner. After following all the steps for change, it will measure the change process. In this step, it will be seen that to what extent the change process was successful. If in any area it is lacking, it will again follow a series of steps and apply the other solutions.
