There are three dimensions of big data that are velocity, volume and variety. The big data requires the different sets of data analytics tool that can be used to take out the values out of the big data and process that same.
Using big data technologies help the airline industry in many ways. It has been analysed that big data is helping the companies to manage many activities at a single time (Russom, 2011). Even today, most of the companies in the airline industry are facing the issues of handling the data and thus it is required by those companies to implement some of the data analytics techniques in order to manage the big data. Some of the forms in which the use of big data technologies is changing the way the airline industries are working have been discussed below:
Big data handling is itself a very big challenge for the industries or the companies in the airline industry. Handling the big data requires the companies to modify their traditional practices of data handling and this modification can only be done by putting great efforts (Airlines.iata.org., 2017) The complexities in the customer data such as velocity, variety, volume and veracity act as the big challenge for the companies to analyse. Implementation of customer data management system: It is required for the companies to implement the data management system in the company processes so that any of the change can be brought up easily (Fortune, 2017)
Making the customer satisfied: It is very important for the companies or the airline firms to design the big data application in such a way that allows the customers to make use of it so that the intensity of customer satisfaction can be increased.
Big data has changed the way airline companies are working these days. Knowing the customers is need of hour for all the companies that are working in different industries along with airline industry. This is because they are the most important source of revenue for the firms (Forbes Welcome., 2017). Knowing the customers has become the important objective for the airline companies and thus implementing the data analytical tool is the only option in the ear of big data. Big data tools helps the companies to know about the real time information of the customers and also allow the customers get the information about their tickets, luggage etc. embracing analytics in the system of the airline has developed many opportunities for the companies to earn more and more revenue along with more customers satisfaction. It has eased out the conduction of processes at the airports and interaction of the airline and the customers. Still there is a long way to go for the airline companies. The companies still have to look for future opportunities such as managing the road map by data analytics etc.
