HAFH appreciate the recommendations that you made for IT service support in your recent report. It is intended that an integrated IT Service Desk will be implemented as part of the next range of projects to be undertaken

HAFA is suffering from increased competition from other larger hotel chains. In addition they see an opportunity to expand into markets such as conferences and events. As is usual in this type of industry, regular upgrades need to be undertaken to remain competitive. Recent surveys and customer feedback reveals that patrons are critical of many facilities and services at many of their establishments. Moreover, staff morale is low as customers blame them for the poor service and aging facilities.

HAFH have identified a program of projects that address problem areas in the organisation. A substantial number of these have significant IT components. Given your expertise in the implementation of IT systems particularly development, release and deployment, you have been asked to advise on the implementation element of the project.

You are required to provide advice and develop a plan outlining the direction and requirements for the implementation part of the project. You are not required to develop a project schedule or costings for the implementation. That is to be handled by the project manager. If a work breakdown structure helps you identify key areas within the implementation then use it as tool to support your implementation plan, You do not have to produce one. Again, your role is to advise on implementation not as project manager.

Your group is required to develop an implementation plan for a number of systems.

How many systems do we have to select?

There are a large number of systems identified in the projects above. You are to select a small group of related projects and develop one plan. You may want to concentrate on the network, or the programming and deployment of new computer programs. It is up to you.

The VOIP services transforms the voice of the user into the digital format/signal. This signal travels through the network or internet. Detailed Description of the System: The organization be implementing the VOIP system for connecting various parts of the organization. The communication enhancement will be the primary purpose of this system. Encryption security measures will be implemented into the organizational environment so that data transmitted through the system cannot be read by the cyber criminals even if the data is theft (Enck et al. 2014). The system will be connected to the main database of the organization. An instance will be saved for the recording of data transmitted through the VIOP system path. Not all the data will be saved in the database, only the mail and chat related data will be stored. The hardware firewalls will be used within VOIP system for better protection. The intranet communication medium will be established through the LAN or Local Area Network. The VOIP system will connecting the computers of the hotels so that communication among the devices can be done free of cost.

The components of the System: The VOIP system will be consisting of the following components.

  • Gateway:Signaling Gateway Controller and Media Gateway are the two components of VOIP system that are considered as the gateway. The Signaling Gateway Controller can be referred to as the “called agent”. It is also equipped with the media gateway control function. It provides support to the signaling system 7 protocol stack as well as capable of generating call detailed records. The media gateway on the other hand is responsible for voice packet transmission through the use of RTP transmission protocol. It is also known for its support to MGCP.
  • Server:In terms of using the features like voice mail and video conference (like the case of Home Away from Home), the media server is required. The media server is responsible for call progress tones transmission of and announcements of special service, functionality maintenance of voicemail, voice activated dialing and many more. Next comes the application server which is very important for the organization. The major responsibility of an Application Server is to provide value-added services to the IP network. Global and customer specific services are provisioned here. Call characteristics and session specifications are influenced by the application server.
  • Hardware:The firewall will be installed at the core system. Magnetic tapes will be used for storage (Myamoto et al. 2016). The network printers will be used in each of the hotels. The servers will be hardware based. Wires and routers. Analog telephone adaptor or ATA will be used for connecting the standard phone device to the computer device through the internet connection or internal network. The ATA is referred to as the analog to digital converter. The IP phones will be equipped with RJ 45 Ethernet connector instead of RJ 11 phone connector (used in normal telephone devices). The IP phones will be connected directly to the routers of the WIFI System.
  • Software:The VOIP system will be using website and application for communicating with the customers. The security applications will be used in the computer systems. The VOIP system will be using various patches for updating the VOIP system capability. Each and every computer in the organization will be installed with windows 10 operating system. The software will be improved for accessing the data store and retrieval. The bugs in the current application will be recognized and removed.
  • Network:The intranet and extranet will be used for connecting the hotel appliances and other hotels respectively. The internet will be established through the use of LAN. The WIFI System of the organization will be improved for making the connection among the internal devices better. Most of the cases the wired connection will be used so that data breach can be prevented (Ferro and Silvello 2017). Two different servers will be used for core VOIP system and database so that data theft can be reduced to less than 1%.
  • Data:The data is the primary component of the system. The processes of the VOIP system will be done through the gathered data and generated information.
