Big Data technology has been showing its potential in various types of industry. The airline industry has been integrated with big data analysis. Big Data has helped in minimizing maintenance of airplanes in industry. It has also helped in enhancing customer experience in airplanes. The data and information of passengers are stored in big data that helping keeping a track on their details (Fortune, 2017). The security purposes of data and information has been properly focused in this industry. The private information about passengers travelling in plane has been primary priority or airline industry. Therefore, collection and prioritization of data has been properly maintained by the use of big data analytics. In previous years, storage of data and information of customers was a major problem in the airline industry. The details of customers booking in airline industry were not easily fetched. The search engine of this industry has been enhanced from traditional approach to modern approach.

Information regarding departure and arrival of planes can be updated easily with the help of big data. Different companies are using bog data for improving their marketing efforts in the market. Collection of detailed data and information about individual customers, have helped in enhancing customer experience in industry. Various applications are used that helps in tracking baggage of customers. Therefore, searching of items of customers have been enhanced with the help of big data. Various wearable devices are provided to customers that are connected with big data analytics (Kepes, 2017). The customer services of various organization have enhanced by connecting to maximum number of customers at a time with the help of big data. The integration of big data along with airline industry have initiated several services for customers including hotel accommodation, renting a car and travelling. Therefore, the journey in the plane has been simplified with fascinating offers and services. The use of the big data have reduced the cost for company. Therefore, companies are providing various type of discounts and offers for customers. This have able to attract customers towards airline industry. Airlines are able to sell seats with the help of inventory system and marketing their services properly. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) will replace the barcode hand scanning that has been an industry standard since the early 90s.

Part C

Specific challenges are being faced by airline industry due to use of big data concept. One of them is that the data is fragmented across several units and functions. Therefore, it creates problem in decision-making process. In order to take a proper decision, all data and information from various data units have to be combine together, which creates a major problem in operation (Raconteur, 2017). However, this increases investment and cost of the company in retrieving data and information. Big data technologies can be used for small startups having online travel firms for collecting and storing data properly. However, large companies require hybrid environment for performing their operation in different fields (Fortune, 2017). Therefore, this create challenges on architectural point of view. In real-time architectural model of travel agency, companies cannot run on Hadoop and other open-source environments. The travel firms faces challenges in sustaining competitive advantage from big data. Large companies developed their customer bases from early stages. Therefore, small airline companies faces challenges in acquiring customers using big data technology.

Part E

Airline industry has seen many changes in recent times. There has been a massive change in models, growing alliances, realignment of air routes and regulatory environment. Airports are designed with minimum stress and large capacity. It also depends on minimum cost dependency to reduce airline operations. The commercial focus has been changing from revenue per aircraft to Sales per Passenger. This help in creating high non-zero revenues for increasing their SSP (Drummond, 2017). The future aspect of airline industry has been formulated by big data analytics. This has opened various opportunities for maximizing profits. The commercialization of airline industry has focused on high sales per square meter. This renewed revenue strategy has helped in development of non-passenger revenues including parking spaces, forecourt commercialization and commercial property (Garcia and Garcia, 2017). Various projects are planned for future airports all over the world including Abu Dhabi’s new Midfield Terminal, Istanbul New Airport and Pulkovo International Airport. These airports will be designed with high tech facility. The new terminal is designed with long-span arches supporting a roof that reaches a height of 52m, with a floor-to-ceiling curtain wall allowing visual connectivity between the outdoor landscaping and indoor spaces.
