The data files that accompany this Assignment come from SIRCA (subscribed to by Swinburne Faculty of Business and Law) and Morning Star DatAnalysis (subscribed to by Swinburne Library). The data relate to the 2015 financial year for some of Australia’s largest listed companies. You are required to use these files in Excel to create the variables suitable to replicate the output reported in Azim (2012) and apply both Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) Regression to the data for year 2015 only. You are not required to search for any missing data, or reconstruct financial ratios (omit observations for which all data are not present).
Include explanation in your submission of assumptions made in preparing your data file. Excel skills, particularly the VLOOKUP function may need to be honed to achieve efficiency in preparation of the data file. Sharing of the skills helpful to create the file for use in SPSS is encouraged, but not sharing of assumptions, the analyses, or writing up of outputs or outcomes. This is an individual assignment.
You are required to compare and contrast the output from application of both statistical techniques (SEM and OLS). On the basis of your analysis, comment on any differences from the findings reported in Azim (2012). You are not required to include discussion of the literature or theoretical framework other than in the context of commenting on your findings and even then, limit yourdiscussion to only theory(ies) and literature that appear in Azim (2012).
1. Estimate OLS Regression using SPSS, replicating Azim (2012) based on the data sheet provided (Data2009).
2. Write up a report.
3. SPSS Dataset compiled in separate document.
