When I was given the responsibility of making this film, I was feeling very excited that I got the opportunity to work on Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of United States of America. At the time, I was nervous because it was for the first time I was going to make a film with my group members. I learnt a lot of things while I was making this short film with my group embers. I researched a lot on Abraham Lincoln in order to portray the conflicts that had existed between Abraham Lincoln and his cabinet ministers. I have learnt that his cabinet ministers were against the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln had supported the great Civil War. I can share from my personal experience that is very difficult for a person and his team to collect historical data in that certain period. I had to take help of internet and other secondary sources for maintaining the chronological order of historic events like American Civil War. Moreover, I and my team members had conducted a thorough research on American Civil War which took place from 1861 till 1865. I had felt certain issues while working with my team. One of my team members is reluctant to accept other’s perspective even if the other member was telling the right thing. I faced coordination issues among my team members. I had faced trouble when I was given the responsibility of writing dialogues. I was suffering from lack of words when I was writing the dialogues.
I have realized that dialogues are an integral aspect of the films including short films. From my experience, I can share that I did not knew how to write dialogues for any film. Therefore, I become extremely nervous when I was assigned with the responsibility of writing dialogues for the film. Conflicts arose between my team members when we had to fix the budget for preparing this short film. Some of my members had shared that it will take around AUD 30,000 to make this film. On the other hand, rest members of my team had shared their opinion that AUD 70000 was required for preparing the short film. Finally, they agreed to invest around AUD 45, 000. From my experience, I can share that this kind of conflict within the team had delayed the decision-making process. I had observed that none of my team members were cooperative and helpful when it comes to working together as a unified team. In this regard, I can share that lack of unity had resulted in delaying the release date of our film. I have learnt that it is important to allow others to share their opinions freely without having any hesitation in their minds. In this regard, I can share that this approach will help the entire team to achieve the desired success in film-making. We had collected videos from different documentary videos that are published in You Tube, one of the most popular video-sharing sites and other video-sharing sites.
From my experience, I can share that how editing plays a significant role in making a fil more creative and meaningful. I have also learnt how to edit the unnecessary dialogues or scenes from the film in order to make it more meaningful. I had observed that one of team members was using AVS Video editor, a unique software for editing the unimportant dialogues as well as scenes from ‘Saving London’. We had worked hard on improving our technicalities. I had observed that our team faced difficulty when we have to use technologies like IMAX, Auro3D. From my experience, I can share that none of my team members were a technical expert. In this context, I can share that our lack of knowledge in using these technologies has detoriated the quality of the quality to a certain extent. Had I know how to use IMAX, the cinematography of the short film could have been better. I was not familiar with the names of such technologies before becoming a part of this film-making process. After making of Saving London, I have learnt how to use such technologies in order to make the film more attractive and meaningful in the eyes of audience. After making of this film, I can share that IMAX is a sort of photo capture technology, which is widely used in short films. I have learnt that Auro3D is a sort of sound technology, which is widely used in short films. However, I have realized that we are running short of money when we had to use various softwares and technologies in order to improve the overall quality of ‘Saving London.’ From my experience, I can share that I had chosen this unique name. Finally, I can share that I was quite happy for being a part of this film-making process.
