## Questions:

Using the same data set as in Assignment 1, you are asked to address the following issues:

1. Determine the most appropriate theoretical probability distribution to model, (a) total trips, and (b) trip length (time) frequency. In each case comment on the usefulness of your model.

2. A client has enough funds to sample 2,000 households in an update to this survey and has asked you to devise the most efficient sampling strategy. You should develop three strategies: a) a SRS (simple random sampling), b) a stratified sample with proportional allocation, and c) a stratified sample with optimal allocation. An important consideration is your argument for the choice of stratum. You should also discuss each option in the context of the sampling error and the confidence level.

3. Do males and females have statistically different trip-making characteristics? Analyse this in terms of a) home-work trip rates, and b) trip distances. [Note you need to think about averages, variances, and distributions in your analysis and all your analysis will be at the trip file level].

4. Build a multiple regression model to predict a) total trips, and b) person-level vehicle kilometres of travel (i.e., car trips only). You will need to think carefully about the
rationale for variable selection, whether any data transformations are required, if/how dummy variables should be incorporated.
