3. First you need to select your case history patient. Throughout the paper and discussion maintain patient confidentiality by assigning the case study a pseudonym and abide by your organisations ethics policy on using patient information.

- Upload your case type and initial thinking & present this in your group – introductions only at this point

- When the discussion opens, (Tuesday 24th July) discuss your case study with other students in your group.

- It is in everyone in the groups’ best interest that you have a spread of different case study presentations.

Week 1: Simply introduce yourself to your fellow students in Student chat space (/d2l/common/dialogs/quickLink/quickLink.d2l?ou=262193&type=discuss&rcode=UTAS-1413060)

Week 2: Choose your case study and present this to your fellowtegmropluatpe members in the discussion space group you have selected.

Week 3: Ask your fellow group members questions about their case studies that will help to critically develop their understanding about the determinants of health. Ensure your questions are relevant and constructive.

Weeks 3-5: Continue to ask questions to your fellow group members and provide evidenced based answers to questions          that have been asked of you.

Everyone in the group must make at least one comment or ask one question of ALL other group members’ cases

You can elect to chat/post as many times as you wish

Avoid one long dialogue. Keep your discussions concise and succinct. There must be at least 5 referenced posts

Remember that you are looking at the pathogenesis of DM and how the determinants of health directly or indirectly impact on health outcomes in diabetes. This means that there could be more than one student selecting the same prominent population but not the same determinants of health. By the end of the discussion each prominent population, the pathogenesis of DM and the identified determinants of health should be addressed where possible.
