Summary
The author talked about euthanasia and he states that euthanasia is wrong, the conclusion of the given example of Karen Quinlan was wrong. The author further described the difference between euthanasia, killing, and passive euthanasia, and given a different example to prove that. I would say he perfectly described the negative side of euthanasia and stated that is against nature, and it is actually killing as it eliminates any chances of recoveries that might have saved the diseased person (StudyLib, 2019).
Critiques
The author has positively demonstrated that euthanasia is not just dying it is killing someone without putting extra efforts to save him or her. He provided clear decryption about how the doctors and other health care providers let the patient die as they do not want to be failed, however, I think this statement was not completely true because the doctors I think to do anything to save their patient (Lavoie et al., 2015). He further stated that euthanasia is against nature and eliminate any chances of recovery. This statement is very convincible because medical science has been progressed well and we can find a cure for most of the diseases if we eagerly try to find it. But euthanasia removes all those chances. It allows others to take a decision on our behalf and that is truly wrong (Dines, 1995). However, it is the author described some circumstances where letting the people die is acceptable. But in the end it can be said that the author described the fact very convincingly (George, Finlay, & Jeffrey, 2005).
