Effects of wellness program on today’s workforce
Employees value overall well-being
Today’s employees have understood the importance of overall well being of an individual through various awareness program organized by private companies and government. They have understood the importance of a healthy body and mind in one’s life. According to the study, around 65 percent of employees believe that the job satisfaction is derived from the good physical and mental health (Dunn, 2019). They also believe that they can be more productive and focused at the workplace if their health is taken care of.
In a recent study, it was found that the employees who work in the company where their interests are cared through various recreational activities are far happier than employees in other companies (Konstantaki, 2018). A company can organize various wellness activities that include stress management, medical screenings, and organizing various sports events. It is the responsibility of the company to take care of the interest of the employees so that the productive workforce could be achieved in the organization. In today’s world, many corporate are working towards the congenial working environment by organizing various recreational activities that include fun activities, and stress management. For example, companies like Google organize recreational activities for its employees every week that results in higher satisfaction among employees (Blake, 2016). The organization must understand that the productivity of the employees are linked with their well-being, if the employees are have an effective work life balance then they can be productive in the organization. Various small organization are also getting inspired from the big organizations by taking various steps towards ensuring employees well being so that the organization remains productive.
Wellness programs ensures the productivity in an organization
In the organization, employees are the most productive resource that either brings the success or failure to the organization. According to the study, the top 50 companies that come in Forbes list every year are the ones who take care of their employees’ satisfaction (Page, 2017). As the world is moving towards liberalization, the employees are also aiming for freedom at their workplace where they can easily work without any pressure. In a recent study, it was reported that the young employees are looking for the job satisfaction before deciding to work in an organization (Lagrosen S. L., 2015). The high salary is less attractive to them and they want the organization where their emotional, physical and mental health are being taken care of. The good number of wellness activities reduces employee absenteeism as they have the high morale to come to the office every day. The wellness activities also make them feel fulfilled and content with the job.
In the recent study, it was reported that the deploying good number of wellness activities for employees reduces the turnover by 60 percent. The reason for the reduction of the turnover of the employees is that they do not find any important reasons to leave the organization as their inner needs are satisfied which include good mental and physical health. They started loving the job thus making it easy for them to deal with the stress positively in the organization. Moreover, the wellness programs are helpful in retaining employees for the long term in the organization as it grants positivity to the employee and they are able to surf in the organization for the long term. The production cost of the company also gets reduced as the company do not have to face the problems of idle hours as the employees will be engaged in productive work thus leading to better profitability and the financial position of the company (White, 2016).
The companies in the developed economies such as USA, UK, and Australia follow the wellness program really well for its employees. The companies make sure that the needs and desires of the employees should be held in highest esteem and the employees should be satisfied with their job. The large amount of money is spent on the recreational activities to make employees happy and content with the company whereas the companies in developing and the developed nations have less funds to invest in the employees recreational activities. Even most of the managers are less concerned about their emotional and mental well-being (Lagrosen Y. , 2019). They treat them just like a source of income for the company but with globalization, things are changing. The companies in the developing nations are becoming aware of the well-being rights of the employees. The managers have become more empathetic of their needs and they are deploying activities to grant them highest satisfaction. The employees have also become aware of their well-being rights thus helping them overcome the violations of the companies (Kunte, 2016).

Whether it is IT company or a healthcare sector every company is looking forward to retain its employees or to attract the quality workforce by introducing various activities such as stress management, outdoor activities, and visits to major places. These activities are improving employees’ mental and physical health thus making the productive source for the organization. The change is taking place in most of the nations of the world due to the increased awareness of the people around thus making it the best thing for the employees and the organization
