Impact of Hierarchical Regression on Sustainable Ideas in Business Planning

Sustainable supply chain management is considered to be an important factor during the business performance index of the organizations. According to Abdel-Baset, Chang, and Gamal (2019), companies must recognize and understand the significance of contingency protection to manage favorable risks in the business. Moreover, sustainability in the business is essential to secure a strong future for the company by managing the utilization of resources. The pattern of the work environment has been changing gradually at present which has simultaneously increased the competitive outlook of the company. To match with the changing competitive nature of the companies it has been noticed that the companies have also gradually shifted the focus within the business network (Suryanto, Haseeb, and Hartani, 2018). The essay aims to present Critical Literature Reviewed context on the prevailing practice of supply chain management of the companies. The critical discourse of the essay contains an analysis of various scholarly papers to review the mode of study methods and the findings of the papers. The research outcomes have been presented in a systematic manner with an empirical explanation.

According to Cousins, Lawson, Petersen, and Fugate (2019), the collected survey data from 248 manufacturing companies all over the United Kingdom has been utilized to evaluate the impact of hierarchical regression. The awareness of the companies in recognizing and implementing sustainable ideas in planning the business has been analyzed. The result has been found to be suggesting the benefits of the implementation of green supply chain management. It has been noticed that the implementation of the GSCM plans has helped the organizations to gradually improve in both the environmental and financial performance. The paper has been significantly offered a variety of contributions in the selected area. The authors have subsequently developed a validated measurement of the scales for calculating the eccentricity of the companies alongside the supply chain traceability (Cousins, Lawson, Petersen and Fugate, 2019). Furthermore, the paper highlights the unique relationship between these two identified variables and the ways in which this can positively influence the cost management and cost control actions of the companies. However, the paper is limited to the perpetuity of the survey data, which directs to more opportunities of collecting and analyzing data from secondary sources. On the contrary to the previous paper, Suryanto, Haseeb and Hartani (2018), argues that the characteristics of GSCM can be further expanded to variables like supporting organizational management and controlling the pressure of expenses in managing the supply chain networks. The paper explores the implications of GSCM with a detailed explanation of the logistics management practices. Following the emergence of the Malaysian firms, the paper focuses on the viability of the organization focus in implementing three major factors of GSCM which are External Relationship (ER), Eco-design (ECO), and IR factors. The purpose of the factors can be listed as-

Expanding GSCM Characteristics to Supporting Organizational Management and Controlling Expenses

Factor (A): External Relationship (ER)- The ER factor provides a significant link between inbound and outbound logistics required for environmental management.

Factor (B): Eco-design (ECO)- The ECO factor assess the relationship between the external and internal links of product and process design (Suryanto, Haseeb and Hartani, 2018).

Factor (C): IR factors- It focuses on "closing the loop" providing the logistics of recycling, reuse, and reversing.

To derive the analysis on the significant information listed above, the authors have collect5ed the data from certain Malaysian firms using a three-step process. First, the data was collected through a pilot test to check the validity of the instrumental design. The pilot test included about 28 participants included in two separate managerial workshops. Secondly, the data has been further collected from the 128 responses through mailing, and phone calls added more than 1000 responses.

Considering the above discussion, Zimon, Tyan and Sroufe (2020), further add to the context by highlighting the conditions and barriers that hinder the implementation of the SDGs in the supply chain. The characterization of a modern supply chain is often entitled to ecological aspects and concerns for sustainable development in the business. The areas pointed out in the 17 recognized sustainable development goals by the United Nations enable the entrepreneurs to establish an advanced supply chain with significant managerial strategies that determine the efficient and ethical supply of materials. The paper directs to the prevalence of the significant barriers that an organization often faces while implementing sustainable goals in the managerial process. The hindrances exist due to the complexities of establishing an integrated supply chain network. The authors present three connected components essential in the implementation process which are-

Guiding Process Model- It is indicated as the guiding process to describe the translation of the implementation into the practices.

Evaluation of Implementation- It provides access to the companies in addressing the different measurement criteria required to evaluate the implementation goals and measure success (Zimon, Tyan and Sroufe, 2020).

Explanatory Theory- The various theories and principles that are often analyzed to develop a strong framework for the various aspects that need to be evaluated before initiating the process of implementation.

On the contrary to the other discussed papers, this journal lacks a qualitative study since no pieces of evidence of data collection have been identified using any primary method. Following this context, Cankaya and Sezen (2019), have been observed to provide a systematic study comprising a practical method of data evaluation. The study has purposed to explore the various implications of supply chain management within the eight dimensions of GSCM. The study has been designed to interpret the relationship between the various dimensions of GSCM and the sustainable performance of the firms within a tested plan-level survey. The hypotheses have been constructed using a specific cross-sectional face-to-face and email survey. The targeted groups have been organizations based in Turkey. Analyzing the collected data, it has been noticed that all the dimensions of the GSCM were related to the performance improvement except for the green purchasing. The practical representation of the result of evaluating the collected data has thoroughly highlighted the importance of implementing GSCM strategies to maintain a decent level of sustainable performance. The paper further emphasizes understanding the relationship of all the dimensions of sustainable supply as drivers of improving performance (Cankaya and Sezen, 2019). The strength of this paper can be noticed from the significant exploration of the connection between the sustainability performance factors with corporate sustainability since not many studies have been conducted in this context. In the hindsight, it has been further argued by Lee et al. (2022), on the context of the organizational practices on involving digital platforms for connecting with the global supply chain. The authors highlight the gradual influence of global technologies in establishing feasible business partnerships. The study investigates the impact of maintaining a digital supply network in uplifting organizational performances of the Malaysian manufacturing industry. The study involves a critical quantitative research design in collecting the required factual data on the selected research context. The research objectives have been achieved by conducting online surveys through sharing an empirical questionary within 1160 manufacturing companies all over the country. It has been noticed that the companies were not dependable based on the rate of responses.

Hindrances in Implementing SDGs in Supply Chain Management

Lee et al. (2022), also highlights the limitations of the paper and the considerable recommendations for future improvement of the participant organizations. The key argument of the authors has been directed towards the increasing preferences of the organizations in using digital tools and devices for communicating with the diverse supply chain. The lower computing cost and cheaper storage availably along with a reasonable expense for the broadbands have been projected as the primary reasons for the organizations to prefer the digital space.  Agreeing to the context, Bon, Zaid and Jaaron (2018), add that "green" has become a buzzword for maintaining organizational performances within sustainable grounds. Alongside sustainable planning of the resources, the authors present human resource management as another major factor in managing organizational management. The journal proposes a secondary study to concentrate on the conceptual models of supply chain management. It has been highlighted in the paper that for green human resources the organizations need to concentrate on employee engagement practices since total involvement is essential in developing a sustainable work culture. Further agreeing to the argument, Bag, Gupta, Kumar and Sivarajah (2020), added that it is necessary for the organizations to focus on the management of the resources to benefit the physical environment as well as the organizational management to match up with the market competition. The research follows a secondary study model to provide a theoretical underpinning of the context. It explores the technological dimensions of implementing suitable ideas in managing organizational performance.

From the above analysis, it can be concluded that sustainable ideas are quite important to manage financial and environmental performances. The discuses papers highlight the various components of GSCM within an organizational environment to improve the working conditions. Moreover, the various technical methods utilized by the writers have also been highlighted through the contextual development of the essay. The various empirical presentation and evaluations of data have been presented with factual and theoretical arguments in the research. The various obstacles that the organizations essentially face in the process are also highlighted in the research context along with the contingency methods to overcome the barriers.
