Since the business world is ruled using the Internet, hence cyber security is important (Von Solms & Van Niekerk, 2013). One of the most recent cyber security breach issues that took place has been described in this assignment. Apple being one of the technology giants has recently faced security breach issues. In the recent days, a group of hackers broke into the cloud storage of Apple, iCloud. The hacker launched an attack on the accounts of a number of Hollywood celebrities and posted obscene pictures of those celebrities. Following this event, the Hollywood celebrities had charged Apple for misconduct.
The main cause of this attack was to defame Apple as a brand, along with the celebrities. However, the main cause was also to collect ransom from Apple and the celebrities (Walters, 2014). This attack could have been avoided, if the cyber security of the company was even more advanced to stop the intruder. The security concerns included the breach of the privacy of the account holders. Moreover, the enhancement of the cyber security could have mitigated the chances of such security attack on Apple.
This incident had a major impact on the customers, stakeholders as well as partners. The customers felt insecure, as they feared that their privacy might be breached as well. The stakeholders lost their trust on the company and its security (Walters, 2014). The corporate partners were shaken by this incident, as Apple was a brand of high repute.
