The following are some of the most pressing needs established after performing critical appraisal of Rael’s life.
- She needs a place to live since she lacks a permanent dwelling place prompting her to move from one area to another making her to lag behind in developing strong relationship with the environment.
- The need to build relationships as her family members left for not wanting to let others know that they have a person in the family with special needs.
- Training in communication skills so that she may participate actively in conversations without feeling demeaned.
- Financial support: She currently has no money to cater for her wellbeing.
- To be informed of the merits of teamwork-this is because she likes doing things alone and whenever someone lends her a hand, she feels as if she is being rendered helpless.
Current Valued Roles
The following is a brief reflection on how the valued roles that Rael holds at present can be improved or maintained
She is an athlete: Takes part in competitive programs in the faculty of athletics
She is a footballer, with passion in both playing and watching
She is a people helper: She should be empowered through financial support to enable her provide physical support in addition to emotional help to people.
She is a mentor: Taking part in community programs for people with special needs motivates others to be happy even if they have other challenges in life. To help her achieve all her dreams, she needs to be sponsored in order to preach the same gospel to far places.
She is an agent of change: Being an advocate for the oppressed, she can be made more aggressive if she gets further training on human rights and protection against discrimination through government sponsored seminars.
New Valued Roles
Number 1-5 below is an insight into five prescribed roles that if implemented, will facilitate the process of helping Rael to attain the desired objectives. It is worth noting that the roles are in the roles are short-term because the organization planned for them to last five years on the higher side.
Role # 1:
a). To be a spiritual leader. Based on the opinion that the community members have on Rael, she fits very well into the role of a preacher. As it is known that people who have faith in God always prove it through action, Rael has an opportunity to deliver as a catholic follower.
b). A society that is made up of people who have faith in God seldom infringe upon other people’s rights. Traits such as
Role # 2:
a). To be an athletics coach: One of the traits for which Rael is known is being a dedicated competitor. Besides, she does not show off even though she has a rare talent-talking to people with respect and humility, making people to admire her. This trait can enable her win the trust of her subjects during the training sessions.
b). Working with people based on experience and providing real-life example, especially the youths in the community, will enable the society to discover talents, gifts and abilities that can empower them to achieve the goals of change in the society. The youths will engage in activities that limit instances of moral decadence making the area a safe place to reside in.
Role # 3:
a). To be a relationships therapist. Based on her experience, Rael is an ideal candidate to offer this service. As portrayed in her profile, she possesses some of the vital qualities of a psychologist for instance, being empathetic and caring for the less fortunate.
b). This initiative will help solve most of the problems affecting families and enable children with special needs to have a home where they can be protected and provided with proper care.
Role # 4:
a). To be the chairperson of people with disability. Based on the fact that she is always advocating for equal treatment of people in the society even though she has no such role, it is time she is officially recognised as the spokesperson of such people.
b). If given this opportunity, she will get an ample opportunity to sensitize the society on the need for courtesy and humility in order to avoid blatant violation of human rights. Her family neglected her and did not even want others to identify her as one of the family members. Through this initiative, everybody, irrespective of their physical or mental challenge will be viewed and treated as human a human being.
Role # 5:
a). To employed as a counsellor in government hospital: As indicated in her profile, though she did not get the chance to study with other children with no challenges, she got education and should have a chance to practice her talent.
b). The society is full of people who are struggling with the problem of making life-changing decisions. People who would otherwise find it difficult to decide on where to go given their challenges will have a mentor who uses personal experience as a point of reference for providing advice.
Wounds
Below is a brief highlight in the manner in which the proposed vision, upon implementation, could cover up for some or entirely eliminate the unfavourable life-experiences professionally referred to as wounds that Rael had in her life
Firstly, Rael suffered the absence of naturally or freely given relationship. A relationship therapist will alert the society on the plight of the people with special needs and inform them on best practices to prevent avoiding them in daily operations. Another problem that Rael suffered in her life was rejection by family and neighbours. Being the chairperson of people with disabilities, Rael advocate for care of the less fortunate in the society and eliminate instances of people with special needs being observed as burdens in the society. In addition, Rael lacked a permanent place of residence. If given a role as a counsellor in a government hospital, she will have a house allowance as part of her remuneration package. As noted in the profile, Rael suffered the problem of social relationship discontinuity. However, if she is given the chance to become an athletics coach, she will eventually have a community to associate with. Besides, if the family sees her as an active participant in community programs, they will automatically want to associate with her. Finally, Rael suffered de-individualization in her life as she grew up. The role of a spiritual leader will compel her to develop a consistent pattern of behavior whether observed by others of living in isolation.
