Curriculum goals refer to the broad statement that helps an individual in achieving long term outcome. The curriculum goals are far reaching as compared to objectives and they help the student in becoming productive member of the society. The education sector is an important sector that has connections with the society and it can help in developing the national economy (Elyas & Picard, 2018).  The global trends have shaped the education system in Saudi Arabia and they are aimed at improvement of the environment in the education Department and on decentralization of administration. This essay discusses about the curriculum goals as it prevails in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia wants to drive the intellectual along with cultural progress with the help of the curriculum goals. According to Aldabas (2015), the curriculum goals of Saudi Arabia are aimed at diversification of the economy and it wants to provide equal access to education to all the people in the society. The curriculum goals in Saudi Arabia focus on the aspect of standardization of test that can help in gauging the merit of the students in the proper manner. The curriculum goals pertaining to education in Saudi Arabia wants to test the achievement and the aptitude of the students. It has been stated by Moskovsky (2018) that the curriculum of education in Saudi Arabia wants to develop the skills, knowledge and critical thinking in the students that can help them in adjusting to the changes taking place in the global arena. The educational curriculum in Saudi Arabia lays stress on the interest of the students that can help in improving the state of education of the country. The traditional educational goal was aimed at teaching the students about their religion Islam. On the other hand, the present curriculum goal of Saudi Arabia is to teach the students not only about their own religion but also about other religions that can help the students in having a better perspective of the world. According to Alharbi (2017), the curriculum takes care of the fact that the students get a positive outlook on the other religions.

The curriculum in Saudi Arabia wants to build character along with skills of the students. The curriculum goals of educational system at Saudi Arabia want to develop social skills along with values of the students. It has been stated by Burke (2018) that the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia wants to represent the students for international life and the educational curriculum prepares them for real world. The educational curriculum not only focuses on environment along with society but also about the broader world. The curriculum goal revolves around using technology within the classrooms and it provides opportunity to the students so that they can use it. According to Rajab and Wright (2018) improvements have been brought about in the curriculum of Saudi Arabia and it wants to teach the students about technology so that they can adjust in the modern world.

Efforts have been made to develop the curricula of Saudi Arabia and it has incorporated applied sciences in the curriculum that can help the students in developing the aspect of scientific knowledge. Development means making use of all the efforts that can help in reaching desired objective in an efficient manner by bringing changes in relation to form along with content. The present educational curriculum in Saudi Arabia focuses not only on the scientific contents but also on the aspect of school activities and the programs that can help in the development of personality (Abubakar, Al-Shihri & Ahmed, 2016).  The curriculum goal is to imbibe in the student leadership skills that can prove to be useful for them in their later life. The goal of educational curriculum is to improve the communication skill of the students that can enhance the relationship of the school with the environment along with the community.

The curriculum was changed in relation to primary schools and it introduced new subjects and increased the school hours. The new curriculum focused on the aspect of diverse teaching material along with methods that can help the students in coping with the changes taking place in the modern world. According to Alrabai (2016). the curriculum goals of education in Saudi Arabia is to create knowledge workforce that is self-sustaining that can compete at international level. The curriculum focus on the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) along with English language teaching that can help the students to compete at the global arena. English language teaching materials have been standardized and it has been aligned with the national curriculum so that it adheres to the culture of Saudi Arabia. The curriculum lays emphasis on the aspect of pedagogical skill development along with English language proficiency testing that can help in meeting the students within the dynamic world. According to Alharbi (2017), the goal of the educational curriculum is to develop the linguistic competence of the students that can help the students in their future. Self-learning curriculum approach has been stressed by the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia that encourages the students to learn on their own and it can help the children in relation to integration. It can help the students in achieving unity in relation to knowledge along with that of balanced performance.

The educational curriculum goals in Saudi Arabia can help in driving intellectual progress of the country. The tests have been standardized that has the objective of judging the proper merit of the students. The curriculum aims at testing aptitude of students. The goal of the educational curriculum is to nurture the faculty of critical thinking and develop skills in the students that are crucial in the present times. It can help them in competing in the broader world and increase the chance of their success in the professional arena. The interest of the students is the primary arena that the curriculum lays stress on which can improve the condition of education within Saudi Arabia. The educational curriculum focuses on STEM subjects that can help the students in getting an edge in the competitive environment. The curriculum lays stress on the aspect of pedagogical skill development that can be useful for the students in the competitive global world.
