Problems are a part of a college campus and some major problems that our college campus has is very evident such as scarce parking space, less community engagement of the students, over-crowded labs. There is one major problem that steals the limelight is the issues of substance abuse and underage drinking. This problem has been having a lot of negative impact on the neighborhood.
Substance abuse has been significantly affecting the performance of the students within college campus and reputation of the college is being hampered to a great extent. The surrounding community is also being affected to a great deal as the atmosphere of the culture of drug abuse in the college is having a negative effect on the children as they are growing up (Henry, et al.). The children in the community are being exposed to this harmful culture and growing up to believe that the inclusion of drug abuse and drinking is very common in their lifestyles as they grow up. The moral aspects and the ethical beliefs of the children are lost as they are exposed to the perils of seeing the college students wasting their time drinking and doing substance abuse. The reputation of colleges is hampered to a great extent if the college authorities are unable to tackle the problem with the implementation of strict rules regarding substance abuse (Mehdi, et al.). The rules and regulations set by the government are being hampered due to the students' unethical practices of drinking and abusing various substances in the college campus.
The environment of the entire community is being jeopardized as there are chances of a robbery or theft in that area. The students would need a lot of economic assistance in order to keep meeting the demands of the illegal substances (Ronny, et al.). This factor in turn will lead them to resort to theft and robbery. Some of these aspect has affected the community to a great extent as all the people always have to remain alert about robberies and thefts at their households. These incidents of theft have almost become a daily routine in the neighborhood. People of the community also cannot attain any help from legal authorities as the police does not bother taking any strict measures against the college students or taking any solid measures to prevent such incidents. Such issues has been affecting majority of people living around the campus of the college to a great extent and they have been facing a lot of security related problems in their own households.
This is a very persistent issue that the college campus has been facing and needs quick attention of the college as well as the legal authorities. This culture of substance abuse and underage drinking has to be stopped as some students in the college are having a negative impact on the other students which has been hampering their performance in the college. This aspect results in risky or dangerous activities on the part of the students and bad health which can impact their lives in the long term (Steven). Therefore, this issue has to be looked into with the implementation of a lot more strict measures on part of the college authorities to get best results.
