Characteristics Of The Electronics Engineering Project
The project “Vehicle Tracking System” was done in the partial fulfillment of Bachelor Degree of Electronics and Communication of Tribhuwan University, Nepal. I performed this project as a part of the course in the 2nd semester of fourth year of my undergraduate degree as a final year project. The venture required in understanding the diverse parts of GSM and GPS correspondence alongside the installed hardware framework. The venture was planned, created and investigated at the venture lab of Kathmandu Engineering College under the supervision of Asst. educator Er. Amrit Sagar Khanal. The venture was initiated in second Semester April (2011) and was effectively finished by October (2011).
This career episode provides the information about my final year project “Vehicle Tracking System” and the various obstacles and solution to those obstacles for the completion of the project. This profession scene gives a short depiction of the venture, my commitment toward the effective working of the venture, the specialized issue that I experienced and the answer for those issues. As I was Electronics and Communication Engineering understudy, I chose to do the venture identified with the hardware and correspondence framework, so I picked the venture called Vehicle Tracking System where I could utilize installed framework utilizing GPS and GSM framework.
Objectives Developed For Electronics Engineering Project:
Main idea of the project was to build the system which could track the location of vehicle and provide that information to the user whenever required. So as to achieve it me and my group members decided to use the GPS System where we could track the location of vehicle and send that information to the user’s mobile using GSM technology.
- To detect the vehicle current location by using the GPS
- To detect the lost vehicle by using the GSM technology
My Area Of Work:
Before start of the venture we started to do arranging and work division between four of us. My assignment was on outlining of circuit and composing the code for the microcontroller. For the effective running of the venture we used to do the meeting on dynamic report and in addition taking input from our venture administrator. Subsequent to doing the enough looks into we chose to manufacture the little useful piece of venture. Actually, we had utilized model strategy for the finish of the venture.

My responsibilities throughout the project
As we were group of four students and it was a final year project the planning, resource management, work division and time management was not the big deal, but the initiation was too difficult. Then we divided the task in 5 phases which are;
- I was responsible for development of microcontroller board.
- I was responsible for development of interfacing circuit for LCD display
- I was responsible for development of interfacing circuit for GPS receiver.
- I had a responsibility to develop an interfacing circuit for GSM.
- I was responsible for combining the whole thing to build Vehicle Tracking System

As my task was to design the circuit and do coding to control the signal. For composing the program, I utilized AVR Studio 5 and I utilized the product SinaProg to stack the program in microcontroller. Before making the interfacing circuit I tried my circuit in reproduction programming called proteus 7 and after that I tried it on the bread board. After effective fruition we made the working circuit on the pcb. At to begin with, I began to plan the circuit for advancement board for microcontroller ATMEGA 16. For this I utilized the hardware, for example, ATMEGA16, diode, capacitor, gem oscillator, ic attachment et cetera. After that I composed the circuit for Liquid Crystal Display and afterward I composed the code to show the name Vehicle Tracking System in lcd.
Accomplishment and Task Performed:
Since the testing of development board and first code was successfully completed we designed the circuit to interface GPS receiver, and loaded the program in microcontroller to extract the location from satellite and display it in the LCD. Interfacing circuit for GPS modem was associated in the information part of microcontroller to get the flag. From GPS satellite it would extricate a considerable measure of data in NMEA organize and from that data I composed a program which could remove the scope and longitude as it were. GSM interfacing circuit was associated with the yield port of microcontroller. I composed the program to the send the message containing scope and longitude utilizing GSM modem to the client's cell phone.
Identified Issues And Their Solutions
Subsequent to outlining the interfaces and running in the Proteus effectively it was not demonstrating the outcome in the bread board however we were associating circuit in like manner with recreation and after that we needed to change the qualities for the resistors and capacitors to explain it. As a result of recurrence confound we confronted the issue in getting the flag so we have to conform the recurrence and after that exclusive we got the flag. Another issue we confronted was in the equipment because of free association and we needed to determine all the gear to settle the issue. The cleaning specialist issue I confronted was in the programming segment while investigating the code, for which I needed to concentrate a great deal and do a considerable measure of alteration to get the last yield.
Plan For Producing Creative And Innovative Work
Since it was a group project, we used to discuss with each other on daily basis and we used to submit the progress report of our assigned task and if someone is lagging in the time we used to help them so that we could be on time as the project needed to be finished before due date. We used to discuss about the progress and what we are going to do in the coming days. We used to submit the progress report as well as the future plan to the supervisor and he used to give feedback to the progression and upcoming task. With the dedication and doing their job properly on time by all the team members and with the valuable time of our supervisor we became able to build the vehicle tracking system on time.
Throughout the entire duration of the project, I have performed all by task kin collaboration with the other members of the team. I have also taken notes of the suggestion made by them, and followed them. Last, but not the least, I have also discussed the progress of the project with my supervisors in a regular manner, besides preparing the final project reports. With the proper resource management and efforts from all the group members, as well as with the help from the supervisor we completed the entire project on time.
During the completion of Vehicle Tracking System, I got chance to build my managerial quality. I got an idea of group work and how to finish the group task. During this project I developed the ability to come the different functionalities performed by different people and built the entire system using those functions. I built an ability to find the error and troubleshoot the problems accordingly. During the completion of project, I was able to use the knowledge which I studied in my academic courses such as Mobile Communications, Satellite Communication, Digital Electronics, Signal Analysis, Electronic Circuits and so on. This project gave me idea on planning, designing, testing and implementing the project which would definitely help me in coming future.
My Contribution To Work
My task was on designing of circuit and writing the code for the microcontroller. For the successful running of the project we used to do the meeting on progressive report and as well as taking feedback from our project supervisor. After doing the enough researches we decided to build the small functional part of project. In fact, we had used prototype method for the completion of the project.
