English as language is having more advantages compared to the disadvantages. This is due to the reason that, there is always a need for a common language as the communication medium. However, different regions or countries around the world are having different languages, which further create issues in communicating with the different people. On the other hand, the massive colonial power of the British in the past made their English as an unofficial yet popular language in different regions around the world. Thus, it can be seen in the recent time that majority of the population from the developed, developing and underdeveloped countries are having minimal idea about English. Thus, it can be concluded that knowing English will improve the people’s life. Person with having the knowledge of English will be able to visit any countries around the world with facing any communication issues. In addition, people with having the knowledge of English will have more career opportunities due to the reason that they can travel to any countries for their jobs (Ball & Lindsay, 2013).
Another advantage of knowing English is the growth of the national economy in the present ear of globalization. This is due to the reason that, in the current ear of globalization, it is important for the larger section of the society to have the English knowledge and communication skills in order to have the access to the new age lifestyle. Thus, having the knowledge of English will improve the life of the people by made them eligible in interacting in the modern day lifestyle along with dealing with the challenges to be faced in this era of globalization. However, though English will only improve the people’s life but extinction of the indigenous languages due to the imperialism of English will have negative impact.
